Casting - Thanks from Belfast

For making an action thriller set in Belfast but casting from England, America and even Canada!! I haven't seen it yet but when I do I won't be paying for it (my girlfriend works in the cinema). This might be presumptuous but since it isn't featured in the trailer I'm betting Rose Magowans accent is terrible.

I appreciate that Jim Sturgess seems to do a pretty good job and Michael Fassbender nailed it in Hunger but come on guys, for Christs sake!!! Give us a chance to participate in a film that's actually about Belfast!! Plenty of talented actors here!!

Saw it tonight and Rose Magowan's accent is indeed atrocious - she sounded like she was Russian and I couldn't make out half of what she said. Considering it's a pretty small part that really only required an attractive redhead, I'm sure they could have found an appropriate native! To me she adds nothing to the film (I wouldn't even say her name is much of a draw - none of the ones I went with had ever heard of her!).

Jim's accent, on the other hand, was excellent - one of the best I've heard. Good actor too.

Lara lives down in Lenadoon and Conor is from up the falls!

I have to agree--I'm American and for some reason cities never want to use their own local talent--it drives actors crazy--its the grass is always greener. In the US they always hire out of LA or NYC even if the local talent may be more talented and cheaper...sigh..,,I thought the same thing when I saw this film. Even if they had used actors from the Republic--what gives? they didn't even go the Collin Farrell (this may be a blessing)/Cillian Murphy route.....they're all in the same age range as sturgess..

Michael Fassbender is from Ireland, from Kerry.
