Supernatural bent - Was Simon manifested by Claire's desire?

The movie doesn't seem to have a supernatural angle. But the way Simon seems to come from nowhere, have no personal aspects/features, can drop everything to have his affair with Claire and then stalk Claire almost makes him seem like some demon manifested by her unhappiness with her situation.

It's like the way a djinn would fulfull a wish.
