Such A @#$%^+* Bitch!

It's been a long time since a movie has gotten me this riled up. I realize the image this movie is trying to portray, the story of "lost girl is saved by love" story, but OMG, her character is such a freakin' bitch! The way she is blatantly rude and mean to everyone! The customers, Julie, her grandparents...The whole anchor scene, where she WANTED the drama...If I had a daughter/granddaughter with an attitude like that I would seriously slap her! Ughh! Anyway, I've just gotten to the part when her gramma gets back from the hospital after having that mild stroke, that GRETA caused...If Greta doesn't have a SERIOUS turn around in her freakin attitude I'm gonna throw the remote at the TV!

I have a fetish for Mafia men...is that wrong?

I just finished watching this.
Didn't find the character of Greta likable at all. She seemed to want drama drama drama and made everything about her :/
And the anchor scene... I was thinking 'Oh good, she realises you can be happy when you're older (the shot of her grandparents smiling) and shes got a good thing going with Julie (who was fitting in with the family, driving the boat)' But nooooo. She goes and sticks her foot in the rope only to be all 'I immediately regret this decision' - all she wanted was the attention but look where that got her.
...okay so this is turning into a little rant ha.
But yeah, I couldn't understand her logic. She was rude and just a grating character.
I know we're supposed to see she has this 'reason' for pushing people away and all that jazz - its just, she really pushed it with everyone else's emotions. Oh I dont know!
...lol as I'm thinking about it I get more angry!
I shall leave it at that :P

criticize the character sure, but looks like the points of the story got through, hopefully to people that are in similar situations.

There aren't enough bad things I can say about this movie but I'll try....

1. Hillary Duff can't act her way out of a paper bag and she ruined the whole movie.

2. Hillary Duff should never wear shorts or a skirt...she has legs like a dwarf.

3. This movie makes an ABC After School Special look like 'Citizen Kane'.

4. IMDB must have let a bunch of pre-teen girls write the reviews for this piece of garbage...that's the only reasonable explanation for the 6.3 stars rating.

5. Ellen Burstyn must have needed Metamucil money really bad...

6. This movie would have been much better if Duff had gone ahead and committed suicide....

Feel free to add....

most unlikable lead in a VERY long time....i did not find one quality about her redeemable.

i tried to empathize with being raised in a household where she lacked nurture and attention, a mother who chooses men over her child, etc etc...but i find it hard to believe that she was a likable person at the core. completely insufferable. id venture to say that a sizable number of teens grow up in less than perfect households and really dont act that way. the scene where she ties the anchor around her ankle? my sister and i cheered for her death.

she did nothing to enhance anyones existence...she got a job, she *beep* on it...she got a nice bf, she *beep* on him...she got pretty decent, loving grandparents and she also *beep* on them. wish she wouldve gotten her desire met in the end.

I felt Greta's rudeness was that of an average teenager. I've met surly waiters/waitresses of a similar age in real life. Her backchat to her grandmother was tame too and the grandmother's over the top reactions to it were the most annoying aspect of the film for me.

Two of Greta's points are her sense of humour and her willingness to put things right (as we saw with her planting the flowers near the end).

She saw her dad kill himself, yeah she was a horrible person (although she did redeem herself a bit)
But that would mess you up!

reply

yep Impossible to like this movie with such an annoying bitch as the lead.

I don't think we are supposed to like Greta. She is exactly like her mother. She has no redeeming qualities and will continue on the path of her mom. That is the beauty of this film.
