Jlaw performance is...

Jennifer Lawrence is so BAD in Silver Linings Playbook, every line she delivers feels forced and too rehearsed

She prevailed against four superior performances such as Emmanuelle Riva in "Amour", Jessica Chastin in "Zero Dark Thirty" and Naomi Watts in "The Impossible" and Quvenzhané Wallis in "The Beasts Of The Southern Wild"

That Oscar winning performance has not aged well. It's in the same category as Gwyneth Paltrow in "Shakespeare In Love" and Reese Witherspoon in "Walk The Line"

reply

Completely agree. She only won that year because the Oscars were hungry for numbers and she had starred in Hunger Games. How her terribly overacting beat Riva is a goddamn travesty!

reply

no, with all due respect she deserved the Oscar.

reply

Wrong.

"You're not a standup guy today, Pat!"

reply

Totally agree! I'm amazed that people think she's a good actress. She's so wooden and ruined this movie in my opinion. It started off as an interesting dark comedy for the first hour and when she comes into it turns into just another typical crappy rom com.

reply

Well said. She was wooden, yet managed to overact (in the scene in the diner). Which is a talent in itself, but not one the Academy ought to be rewarding.

I'm still made on Emmanuelle Riva's behalf, years on.

Totally agree about Lawrence.
Reese was great.
Gwyneth was good but Cate must won she was great.
you said you think her performance wasn't aged good but no it was bad even in 2012 not just bad for 2016

reply

I think she was great. You want bad acitng, watch Scooby Doo, even the 1969 original.

Also, Jlaw's godawful wooden hamming (contradictory, but she pulls it off) received backlash from people with mental health issues, because they didn't think she gave an accurate portrayal of people with mental health issues.

Probably because shouting your head off is a simplistic representation of how people with mental health are.

didn't know about blacklash thanks for your post

reply

I doubt they speak for everyone. I totally found it believable.

reply

Agree. She's so overrated.

reply

NO she is not.

reply

I thought she was absolutely amazing!

reply

Do you people have your heads so deep in your asses? She was absolutely outstanding, no matter if she accurately patrayed a mental person or not. She was simply adorable and acted so finely. I really can't see where was she overracting.

And then, did she deserve to win or not? I don't know, I didn't see every performances nominated that year. But this is not an abysmal win in my opinion.
