Slight mistake with 24 hour daylight...

...Sitka is not that far north. Its 58dgs north, same as north Scotland, the Sun is 9dgs above the horizon in Winter.
I sometimes wonder why films make little mistakes like this? It would be far easier to:-
A)Not have 24hr daylight hinted at, or
B)Set it in a town far enough north for this effect?

Heck it wasn't even filmed in Sitka, it was filmed in Rockport, Massachusetts..

I'm sure that most people who watched the movie could careless about the daylight crap.

Well I didn't know that but now that I do it seems like a very unnecessary error just to include automatic blinds.

I wouldn't have known if you hadn't pointed it out. With that said, I hate big mistakes like that in movies, too.

I spent a summer in Sitka - while it may not have true 24 hours sunlight during the summer, it doesn't get that dark either. You do need to block the light if you want to sleep. It's certainly light until late (at least 11pm) and starts getting light very early.

-The night is a very dark time for me.
-It's dark for everyone, moron!
-Not for Alaskans...

What are those boots called???

They seem very useful.

I worked for a couple of weeks in July at Bettles Bay, Alaska, which is about 61 degrees latitude. It was daylight 24 hours a day. The sun barely scraped the horizon between around midnight and 1:00 a.m.
