Going west?

One thing that I don't understand is that Eli is talking about going west. Alcatraz is on - the east coast. If he had been going WEST for 30 YEARS he must have started from Russia across Europe and over the North Atlantic which he very much did not. Am I just thick as a brick or what the actual ****?

Ehm.. Alcatraz is in San Francisco, which is in California. And California is most definately on the west coast :-)

Kind of old post I know, just felt like replying.

West, as in the Western part of the United States.
