I actually thought they were going to replace Nixon with Trump and have it take place today. Archie would be an aging baby boomer and Gloria and meathead would be annoying millennials. Fits perfectly. By the way Carroll O'Connor's Archie seemed very harmless while Woody Harrelson's Archie seemed like he was about to snap and kill the whole family lol.

It was simply a bad idea and even poorer execution. They're remaking everything in one way or another so we better get used to it.
