One of the worst movies ever

How many people out there wanted to strangle the wife? All she did was cause trouble and go nuts and blow all their money and cause her husband's death. This movie was 60% walking in the woods, 30% riding and boats, and 9% talking. The 1% action consisted of kids throwing rocks. Terrible crap with a huge letdown of an ending. You go with these people for 2 hours to see if they can find their son or not, and then we don't find out. Instead, they come across some rock-throwing bratty kids who rip apart her scrapbook. Such garbage.

the only amazing action in this .. ehmm.. film.. is that theyre at that fundraiser on phuket, get in a taxi and a few minutes later theyre in downtonw bangkok (900 kilometers away).
they then run around in a few streets, find the guide and after that relax a little bit on the beach.. on phuket again.

that was truly amazing.

for that i give this movie 2 outa 10 instead of 1.

It's actually about 845 kilometers in a vehicle, which would make it an 11.5 hours trip. Mundane things like traveling time are always condensed in movies for obvious reasons.

On so many boards here on imdb, people post threads saying a particular movie is one of the worst (or THE worst) ever, and I always roll my eyes and sometimes reply with (if someone hasn't beat me to it) 'then you obviously haven't seen many movies then' blah blah blah. In this case though, you are very right. All I could think watching this junk was that it would have to be one of the very worst, imo. It was just so... STUPID and pointless and overall, wtf? For starters, why did the husband even agree to let his wife waste all their money going out there basically chasing a ghost? Then when they were left there and they started running around... I was just shaking my head at how little sense that made. What exactly were they hoping to achieve by sludging through the water, ect? HUGELY disappointing.

The film is ambiguous at best and the story is layer upon layer a descent into the abstract (much like Calvaire, but not a horror film like Calvaire).

For me, it worked perfectly and I loved it. Don't look for an action movie where there isn't one. It's a psychological drama, at least partially studying the minds of a couple who has lost their child.

It is NOT conventional and I can see how some (mostly younger people who have ADHD, lol) would think that it is slow. It's going to depend on where you're interested in engaging film in the first place.

I don't think Vinyan is about entertainment as much as it is about feeling and mood, and IMO it succeeded at what it was trying to do.

Nice point about young kids with ADHD, you totally destroy any kind of intelligent you could have had.

It is a bad film. I'm young. Yet I have watched hundreds of slow burning films which delve into the mind of characters. This one, unfortunately, fails at doing so.

I agree; I think "Vinyan" is quite an incredible film; advertised as a cheap horror film, this turned out to be an intensely beautiful work of art. I don't think I will forget this one, and i am happy that it is still possible to make a truly "original" film.

"Manos: The Hands of Fate" is much, much worse.
