Have You ever Eaten at any of these Places?

Just wondering - I never have; I was in Minneapolis a short time ago and wanted to check out The Nook, but never made it downtown. I'd love to sample a few of these joints.

Love watching the show...

Here in the Baltimore, MD area I've eaten at Blue Moon Cafe, Chap's Pit Beef, Broadway Diner, G & A Restaurant, Brick Oven Pizza, & Stoney Creek. I've enjoyed all of them except Broadway Diner but I swore off that place before DDD ever did their show there. Kind of sad that they picked that place over the Boulevard Diner only a short distance away. Been open way long and has much better food.

i live about 10 minutes from the dor stop cafe in pittsburgh. it's everything you see on the episode. and it's always jammed packed for breakfast.

I grew up eating at Vito and Nick's Pizza when I lived in Chicago...it's even ebtter than he says. Best thin crust pizza I've everhad in my life.

Kelly's Diner in Sommerville, MA (he was there, right?). It's really good. Nothing too spectacular. But you'll never walk away hungry or unsatisfied. Typical diner food, and great chorizo.

BBQ King (Charlotte)- Great BBQ

The Penguin (Charlotte)- very grease but good

Brownstone (Jersey City)- Best pancakes I have every had

I've been to the Marrietta Diner in Marrietta Georgia. The food was good, but the menu was all over the place. You can get anything from meatloaf to stuffed grape leaves.

My wife and I ate at Tommy's Joynt in S.F a couple of months ago and the food was outstanding. The decor was old and faded, but the waitresses were friendly and the food was wonderful. Try the turkey sloppy joe sandwich!

I used to eat lunch several times a week at Brint's Diner in Wichita back in the 70's.

I've been to Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert, Arizona a few times. That's the one where the guy sold 90% of the family farm for a housing development, but kept 10% as farmland, and converted the family house into a restaurant.

It's very good and almost all of the food is locally grown. People are impressed when you take them there, but it is quite a drive from where I live.

I was driving through St Louis and tried to go to Sweetie Pie's, but it was closed on Mondays. I went to Iron Barley instead. Thank goodness for GPS, or I would have never found either place.

Iron Barley served about the best chicken sandwich I ever ate in my entire life. I think it was the roasted chicken sandwich. Anyway, I asked the waitress what the best thing on the menu was and I can't disagree.

I ate at Matt's Big Breakfast in Phoenix. There was a 2 hour line on a Saturday morning. If you want to avoid the crowds, apparently the best time is after 8 AM on a weekday. The food there is very good, but the place is so small, they don't even have their own bathroom. You have to go next door to a flophouse ERRRR, hotel, and if the owner takes pity on you, he'll let you into one of the rooms and you can use that room's bathroom.

I ate at Over Easy in Phoenix. I think Guy was trying for lightning to strike twice after 'discovering' Matt's Big Breakfast. That place was just OK, which was really disappointing.

Little Tea Shop in Memphis. Wonderful place to go for lunch. Incredibly friendly service, free ''corn sticks'' (basically corn bread) with every meal, and everything was fantastic.

Silk City Diner In Philadelphia. The velvet Elvis is right over the entrance door and there's seating outside in the summer. The place was packed on a monday night. Great food and atmosphere.

He went to a place in Dallas called Twisted Root Burger that is about half an hour away from where I used to live and where my family lives today. Next time I go to visit I know where we'll be having lunch because the burgers looked amazing!

I saw the Twisted Root and thought the exact same thing! I have family outside of Dallas, and now have two places to visit there: that and Whataburger...

I regularly eat at Doumar's Drive-In in Norfolk, Virginia, their creator is known for inventing the ice cream cone. Great burgers and BBQ too.

Oh stewardess...I speak jive.

I went to Grandpa's bakery in Dania Beach, FL before it was featured on DDD. I worked directly across the street. It's just okay at best. The mashed potatoes are instant and the salads are blah.

My husband and I went to The Highlander in Atlanta, specifically because we saw it on the show. It's the place with the "rough" looking crowd and stuffed tater tots. It was pretty good, not the most amazing meal of my life or anything, but I'd go back.

reply

You've never been to Whataburger??? Wow, LOL. That's crazy!

Let me rephrase that. I have two must-go places for me next time I visit Dallas. I make it a point to stop at Whataburger soon as I step off the plane! :-)

Oh stewardess...I speak jive.

My boyfriend and I just went to Sonny's Famous Steak Hogies in Hollywood, Florida today. It was recently featured on the first episode of this new season.

FANTASTIC cheese steak and really, really cheap.

Also hit the Whale's Rib in Deerfield Beach, FL - that was featured on the most recent episode, "Only at This Joint". It was really just so-so, but we didn't have any of the raw bar stuff, which is what he focused on while he visited there.

Arbetter's hot dogs here in Miami is an institution and was featured on a show, but I don't like it - I think it's bland and way overpriced. Paying for the name and the hype.

I think those are the only ones we've been to so far.
