This movie was super uncomfortable if you ain't gay...

I am not a homophobe but that's the truth for me.

OK... I understand what you're saying but why did you see the movie in the first place? You must have known what the film was going to be about, before you watched this movie?

reply

Good point, and don't think the OP should speak for all hetros. I was a little uncomfortable with the bedroom kissing scene, but other than that had no problem at all.

reply

I am heterosexual and didn't find it uncomfortable at all , just a great true story very well directed ,written and acted.

Douchebags ARE hygienic products; I take that as a compliment. Thank you!

LOOOL...

If you're the type of person to be made uncomfortable by the content of this film, why would you watch a film like this?

It is a fantastic film.

isnt it better that he finished the movie AND was willing to watch a movie that could potentially make him uncomfortable?

How is it fair to say "why did you watch it then?" when hes only expressing his discomfort with the gayness of the movie.

if he knew there would be scenes that he would find uncomfortable, then its great he was still willing to give it a chance. If he didnt, and he watched it then hes allowed to feel uncomfortable.

its so lame when people act like people are being unreasonable when they have a negative opinion. This is a discussion website. People are allowed to express likes and dislikes.

reply

Very well said.

Instead of defending the OP, it would be better to suggest he reexamine his heterosexuality and latent homosexuality. This is hardly an unusual dichotomy. However, the fact that the film made him uncomfortable belies the pretension of being non-homophobic.

reply

Very strange thing to say...I am not gay but found the story and performances very good...

reply

Really? I thought it was a typical allegory of upward mobility and triumph of the will Hollywood propaganda.

I hate to hear that but respect your feelings about it. I hope you were still able to take away some sense of inspiration from it. Movies like this are rare. Maybe there will be a time in the future where you can revisit it and not feel as uncomfortable.

Also remember, the lead actors in this movie are straight.

reply

Of course it made you feel uncomfortable. An obviously normal reaction that your supposed to deny because of political correctness.
We're suppose to respect the fact that gay people are just doing what comes natural to them, but your natural instinct to feel uncomfortable watching two men screwing each other is supposed to be suppressed.

reply

watching two men screwing each other is supposed to be suppressed.
If that was in the movie I missed it. Will admit the kissing in bed scene did make me a bit squeamish though. For some reason I was fine when the kisses when they were upright though. At the same time, I knew what the movie was about before I started watching. Didn't see I had any right to complain.

reply

Spoken like a true homophobic, under-educated individual. It has nothing to do with political correctness. You yourself used the term "gay". The impolitic label would be "fag" or "queer". Don't be a hypocrite as well.
