Would have rated it higher had it not been for the ending...

I was thinking to myself as the ending song began to play "Is it possible that this is a French crime-drama from Marchal that actually ends in an upbeat way for the heroes?" but then he had to go and dash it all to smithereens.

His best and most consistent film is still Les Lyonnais (A Gang Story). I'm not sure what's up with trying to throw in unnecessary swerve balls in films like this.

Sometimes the best outcome is the most expected outcome.
