Not Everyone can Hear

It's hard to imagine in the 21st century that I would find a new DVD movie that doesn't have closed captions nor English subtitles. Not everyone can hear. I got everything ready to watch, popped the popcorn, started the movie and noticed there was no "Setup" in the menu to select English subtitles. Started the movie and no closed captions either. No way for me to watch this movie and enjoy it since I can't hear anything being said. Major disappointment. I think the last time I found a movie with no English subtitles was for a movie from the 60's. But at least they had Closed Captions. This movie had neither. I checked the DVD box and sure enough, no mention of CC nor subtitles. I thought it was mandatory by now but I guess not. I have to pay closer attention to the boxes. Guess they didn't want handicapped people watching the movie.

They must have read these posts because the English DVD that I have just watched, has now got subtitles. I use them all the time so as to not miss a word because of accents/traffic or other background noise and when the actors have their back to you.

I thought it was just me. I watched this last night and, being a bit hard of hearing, couldn't understand a good 90% of what was being said. Just some simple captions make a world of difference.
