"I Gotta Go My Own Way" was a good song but c'mon, wasn't it a little too melodramatic for just leaving a summer job because your boyfriend needs to sort out his priorities? It works more in HSM3 because she has to "go her own way" and leave early for college whereas "Walk Away" fits in HSM2 because she needs to step back and let Troy figure things out.

Gotta Go My Own Way is probably the best (if not, my favorite) song in the series, but they may have not written Walk Away at the time that they were making HSM 2, so that might be why. if they had been able to make that switch, then the song might have earned an Academy Award nomination.
