Why tell 3 Very well dress black women: We don't keep cash in the store.

That was the stupidest scene of any of Tyler Perry's movies. As if a woman is so racist in 2007 that she would assume 3 very well dressed black women just because they were loud, they might rob the store, so she comes over to tell them they don't keep any cash in the store. Not to mention it was an expensive woman's clothing store and they were wearing expensive fur coats etc. Just was so uncalled for.. There was no humor to it at all.

it was a seen DIRECTLY lifted from the Eddie Murphy vehicle Boomerang...it just didn't fit here or generate the same payoff "laugh" toward the end of the scene.

jorgito, was just about to say it was from Boomerang!

It was the scene with Marcus (Eddie Murphy) and his two friends (one of them being played by Martin Lawrence.)

Because Tyler was clearly rippin goff Eddie Murphy's Boomerang movie. It was actually funny in that movie. It was stupid here.

Okay I get the Fassbender and Hardy hype!

TerryThomas already addressed this yrs ago (see previous post) but most who grew up watching Perrys plays know that he likes to take lines from his favorite movies & TV shows (usually Color Purple & Good Times) so him doing that line was not a big deal for me. If it was done in his play only but due to this being much bigger spotlighted (various viewers) he should have considered a change.

Maybe had one of the ladies make a purchase but then realize she didn't have enough money so the cashier makes a comment like 'Should have known' or 'we do not do law-a-way'. I personally had a store clerk follow me as if I was shop lifting then make a comment to my friend so I almost could relate to the scene but as thread showcases ... the line was just out of place for this specific setup.

Tyler Perry loves to portray white people in a very negative light... remember those two gay guys on the train? The ones who were making ridiculously racist comments right to Angela's face... assuming she was drunk off a 40 of malt liquor and whatever else they said. Typical Tyler Perry, everything has to be to the ultimate extreme.

Actually, I found that scene refreshing, even if it was cheesy. White gay men are perceived as a minority and people act like they can't be racist when a lot of them are are actually as prejudicial as their straight counterparts. I live in Orlando and the downtown crowd is full of elitist, young, white gay males who are very snobby and elitist.

reply

Not to mention, two of the biggest opponents of the Civil Rights Movement - J. Edgar Hoover and Roy Cohn - were gay.

It was a very stupid scene that makes Perry look like he was being preachy about racism. If anything store detectives would follow and observe before someone would come out with such an ignorant statement.
