Junk yard guy Frank (spoilers!!!)

Junk yard guy Frank threw me. I really thought he was going to be involved in the killing. From his hilarious list of family ailments and well timed wit to his thinly disguised good looks and perfect teeth I just didn't believe this character was who he said he was. Was that intentional?
