Hardest part?

Playing as Spring Mario!

Lol yeah...the controls on that were not very well executed.

Bones: He touched me with his creepy, serial killer hands.

reply

Jesus Christ! I can't believe how many times I died trying to jump and yet he just sat there.

He's just a little shy because I've tried to kill him so many times.

reply

i think the hardest part is playing that big rock guy in the boo galaxy with only 1 life thing

reply

That was tough indeed! But I found purple coins on the luigi figure in toys galaxy harder.

The Trial Galaxies, especially the one where Mario rode on that god-forsaken see thru ball through the tight obstacle course destroyed me on a constant basis. I invented curse words and thanked Nintendo for the strap on the Wii-mote for it would have flung into the TV a hundred times before I finally got the star. Pretty much all the trial galaxies gave me a hard time. To summarize: *beep* the trial galaxies! Ha.

yeah, i thought that the bubble galaxy was pretty hard, and the rolling ball galaxy was even harder, but i did the loop ray galaxy my first try

reply

I would definately have to say the whole Luigi maze thing! I was on that stupid thing for an hour, and it was the last star I needed. My brother actually collected all the star bits. I had to refrain from cussing out of frustration. It was kind of funny because one time I just made a bunch of noise and it sounded like Will Smith's beat boxing noises. You know which ones I'm talking about? The one he uses in the post office on Men in Black II.

I collected 120 stars in this game without even knowing you could fall off that ray part. Reminded me of surfing on counterstrike though.
I'd say it was a toss up between Luigi's coins and the purple coins on the huge battleship on the last galaxy.
Luigi's was harder, but it was more fun, I never looked at how many coins I had and when it made the noise I thought I'd ran out of time. I just screamed and started long jumping back, nearly fell in the goo and started foaming at the mouth before landing in the star.
The battleship was more frustrating as it was immensely repitive and had some gameplay flaws including the use of 3D, two would have done fine and prevented falling off the back due to stick slips which are impossible to correct with consistency when the plain you land on dictates whether back means forward or whether it hasn't arbitrarily switched despite this whole debacle being solvable through the camera tilting with where you jump which would actually be easier to do you'd think since there's no such thing as horizontal, verticle, up, down, left, right or anything in space which is what the basis of the gameplay was pretending to run on. They practically halfway through the level make you start playing upside down without reminding you that the extra dimension you can travel in which has no other use that to kill you? Yeah the controls for that have switched round. Nyahahaha.

I'm still trying to get through the game, but I've gotta say, I agree with the OP - Spring Mario is by far the most aggravating element of the game for me. It's just way too hard to control. I can never get Mario where I want him and every time I press A, even at the right time, he won't do the high jump. Playing as Spring Mario drives me crazy.

I also don't like the freaking Cosmic Comets when you race against Cosmic Mario. Cosmic Mario can kiss my ass...

The hardest parts were definitely the following:

1) The ball rolling galaxies.
2) The Bubble level in the Trial Galaxy.
3) The purple coin level where you're on a Mario made out of blocks.
4) The purple coin level where you have to ride along a platform and if you miss one coin, you're screwed.
5) The lava level with the sinking island and you only have one hit.

100% agreed on these 3 (#3 is actually on Luigi's side of the block planetoid in Toy Time). I also had trouble with Bouldergeist on the Daredevil run.

But Luigi's Purple Coins... damn. That was absolutely insane. It was the only time in the entire game I ever had a game over, and that was after starting off with over 20 lives to boot.

Oddly enough, none of the Bowser fights were hard at all for me. As both Mario and Luigi I beat the last boss battle on my 1st try (died on the approach a few times though).

She's not cardboard, she's just quiet.

Yeah, I forgot about the Bouldergeist on Daredevil run. That was pretty difficult. I agree that Bowser was pretty easy but I'm not really complaining. His final level was actually pretty challenging to get through though.

reply

Yeah, Bowser's last level was not that difficult, but was still challenging and fun.

Very good ending, I would say. Way better than Super Mario Sunshine's.
