Brad Renfro ruins the movie

I don't mean to be insensitive, and I'm aware he had some personal issues, but still -- his performance here was abysmal: the most hammy, jittery over-acting I've seen in some time. I guess the blame should fall on the director, whose job is to rein in his actors and, well, guide and direct their performances better. But I literally found every scene Renfro was in cringe-inducing.

Completely disagree. I thought he was far and away the best actor in this film. He was also the only real interesting character.

The movie was honestly already pretty terrible, but it would have been even worse without Brad.

Boom.

Renfro's personal problems made his performance all the more moving. Watch his final interview on youtube and you'll see what I mean. He had no stable home life, grew up around drugs, lacked proper supervision while working as a minor, all of which contributed to his issues with substance abuse.

Jack was really the most sympathetic main character in the film.
