Ladies, would you want that style of dresses to come back?

I know they are a lot of work but I think men would appreciate it. I know I would.

I am a man and I would gladly give birth to a baby if it were Keira Knightley's.

Georgian dress should be enforced for both sexes. We need just as many dandies around to balance out the elegantly dressed ladies.

I don't know, it is a difficult thing to wear- I've tried corsets on and tied up tightly, you hardly have room to breathe. That, combined with heaps of heavy dress layers...I guess it might be fun to play dress up, as someone put it before me, but hardly a practical everyday fashion.

You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling...

Dresses like that were so restrictive that they often caused health problems. They actually designed a sofa in the Victorian era specifically for women to faint on due to their corsets!

Interesting question.. My answer: Yes And NO. I adore the gowns, I really do.. However; getting in and out of those type of dresses EVERY day would eventually bore me. I don't want to spend ages on getting dressed in the morning.

I came.. I saw.. And I got lost.

I would love to wear those dresses, corsets and alll! And hats. And jewelry. But then again, I wish people still got around on horseback and in carriages, so maybe I'm just in the wrong time! ;-)

Only if it didn't come with that lifestyle or corset! Too many emotional sacrifices..

I've worn the full-on Georgian style before and it does several things

- It makes you feel much more feminine and romantic. There's something about wearing yards of fabric and lace that does have a reaction in your psyche.

- It's hard to move around in, and it's heavy. It's repressive. Your posture improves but breathing becomes more difficult (and yes, the corset is "snug" but for women used to wearing minimal garments under clothes, you are very aware of its presence).

So... no, I wouldn't want to return to that style, but it's really fun to do it once in awhile. =)

i would love 1920's dresses to come back: beautiful, so ornate, female, and yet practical at the same time. It was the first time in history that designers looked at women's comfort when designing a dress instead of only the look

I would.
In fact, I do it every year at a friend's 'ball'. She, as well as a group of us, love history and we have this grand little ball every year with costumes being as accurate as we can get them.
I have fun and wouldn't mind terribly if it came back into style.

I doubt it ever will, though. Too many people are into 'skin'.
