Re-Watching it now for the first time in a few years...

I decided to pop it in and give it a go after not having watched it for probably a good 3 or 4 years. I was one of the few online to actually admitting to thinking it was decent, but I figured maybe time would change my opinion and I'd suddenly see what everyone was complaining about all this time.

I'm halfway through... and I still am not understanding why this is supposedly so "terrible." It's not great, and it's more flawed than I remember it being when I first saw it as a teenager... but I honestly am finding it reasonable entertaining and enjoyable as silly dumb-fun after a long day at work.

Yes, Maria Bello is grating at times, and its pacing it a little too quick... but the action is good, there's plenty of great little character moments (not just jokes... but little moments where the characters can be themselves), the son isn't nearly as bad as people make him out to be, and the CGI and crazy over-the-top moments seem very restrained after having also rewatched Mummy Returns recently.

It's not a perfect 10 by any means. And I'll admit that it's probably the most flawed of the series. But I'm sorry... I don't think this deserves a 5.2 user-average.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

I agree - it's not horrible.

People are just miffed that Rachel was replaced.

Me too, but I can see past that with Rick and Jonathan playing it up as they always do best.

the dialogue is terrible, the characters are unlikeable and are basically different people. thats why i hate it. also no rachel weisz just adds to the feeling of this not being a mummy film like the first two.

It's not terrible, it's incredibly polished in fact. I just find it utterly boring.

New crew, recasting, retconning, location switch fo the hell of it and lots of continuity errors are only part of the problem. In my opinion it's just not fun.

The action is good? I beg to differ.

That is the core of the problem, the action is very poorly done, the acting is poor and the story is uninteresting. It contains non of the elements that could have saved it. A mess from start to finish.

I liked it but it's definitely the weakest of the trilogy. Maria Bello was badly miscast. But the movie does retain that pulpy B-movie vibe that made the first two enjoyable and it's a quick sit unlike a lot of sequels lately.
