absurd scene

I already mentioned it in my review, but isn't it weird that Simin asks Rouhi, whom she has known only for about an hour, to go and fetch her son at the school.

reply

To the extent that Rouhi was domestic help, it made perfect sense to me...

reply

yes, she's a domestic help, but she has barely known her, for only a few hours. Can she trust her to fetch her son? And the school will let the child go with someone they don't know?

reply

Because at that point all she cares for was finding out if her husband is a cheat or not. Nothing else matters. Suspicion was taking over her judgement.

I'm guessing that's about the culture in Iran more than anything.

In America or a western country, we would never do that, but maybe in a country with a theocratic bent, people believe that who are hired to help them would never do something untoward to their child, based on the morals & culture of that country.

It's about how much you trust your society.
