WHAT'S THE AGE/SEX OF THE FANS AND HATERS?

Not of Silverman herself but the show. Just post either FAN, or HATER and then your age and sex.

Me: HATER, 42 Male.

reply

haha you're 42.

reply

Yeah I chose to become older than 40 two years agom a whole 5 years ahead of ms silverman herself. Sheesh I the extent to which the mundane amuses her fans amazes me.

What next? Sitting reading names from the telephone book, giggling at the atypical ones and the ones where people's names have something to do with their address? Perhaps just smirking at the people who live in the bad parts of town or making the sort of comment a small child makes when they ape a comment they heard their parents make about area?

Maybe you could ring up a few of the people and share your thoughts with them?

Hmmmm, I think I may just have hit on a decent episode plot line there, if you see it on TV remember you heard it here first kids.

Ok, so back on topic...?

(Waits for the silvermanesque response of 'topicshmopic' or something equally lacking).

reply

it's just funny because i assumed anyone who expresses their point like "GET OFF THE SCREEN MORON!" would have to be a teenager.

reply

No, even us 'old' people are capable of anger.

Besides, you're saying this and you're more than willing to support Silverman who makes a living out of what she does?!??!

Ah, perhaps I'm beginning to see why you find Silverman so entertaining, you're just amazed that people our age can actually have a life, opinions and such?

Amazing.

reply

i'm sure you're capable of it, i just thought you'd realise it's the enemy of constructive communication.

reply

Dude, it wasn't aimed at you it was aimed at the program maker.

Calm down, it's not all about you.

reply

22yr old male HATER (i really F&$*ing hate her and her show)

reply

ok i'll try to calm down but you're getting me pretty worked up here.

reply

All I asked was whether you liked the show and what your age and sex was, you responded by laughing at me because I'm approximately the same age as the star of this show.

reply

yes, i totally did that.

reply

Stop a) whining and b) hijacking this thread then.

Try answering the question instead?

It's not all about you, either. Just because you're experiencing inexplicable rage at a TV show doesn't mean you're entitled to tell everyone else how they have bad taste.

I know you were being sarcastic, but that made me laugh, and does sound like something she would do on the show...

At first I didn't like the show at all, mainly because I found her character obnoxious and annoying, but being a fan of Brian Posehn's comedy, I gave the show another chance (also I came across "Jesus is Magic")...

Now I'm not a "super-fan" by any means, but I do enjoy Sarah Silverman and her Program. Aside from the juvenile stuff, which is stupid but occasionally hilarious (like "the Last Dragon" parody), I find most of the show's humor to be funny and clever in an ironically transgressive kind of way--i.e. "Chappelle's Show" or "Wonder Showzen" (both canceled, so I'll take what little I can get from this show) and not like the senseless, "look-at-me I'm edgy" transgression of say "Mind of Mencia" or "Drawn Together" (both deserve to be canceled).

On a side note, I'm curious to know what other TV shows the fan's watch? Are you all as self-conscious with your comedy as I am...? Same for the "haters" (a term I...loathe, but I digress)? Is there something I should be watching? Maybe I'll read more books...

Female 26, Disliker.

I don't like the idea of hating them, even if I'm not fond of their work. As far as suggestions for other things to watch, I would suggest catching some Lewis Black stand up. He doesn't have a show, but he should. I would also suggest Mad TV, Seth Green's "Robot Chicken" on the Cartoon Network (after dark of course). I have to agree that Drawn Together should definitely be cancelled. There used to be a show on Comedy Central called "Halfway Home." I hope it hasn't been cancelled but, it may have been. I really enjoyed it. Come to think of it, there's not a lot of funny stuff on television at all.

I ain't new, but I'm in mint condition.

It's awful to see the cast of Mr. Show, which was pretty brilliant for the most part, reduced to this drivel.

reply

34, M, fan.

And to the people who want the humor explained or to be told why it's funny, it just is, dammit. To me, In Living Color, Forrest Gump, Dane Cook, Andrew Dice Clay, and Martin Short are not funny, but other people may disagree, but I don't need them to convince me of anything I'm missing; I just go back to my Drawn Together, Bill Hicks, George Carlin, the Office, My Name Is Earl, whatever I find funny and am satisfied in knowing it makes me laugh.

reply

jesusschwartz, I agreed with everything u said! (Especially when u said Dane Cook isn't funny!!!!)

reply

Dane cook really isn't fun. If you really analysis his routines, he doesn't actualy have any jokes.

Funniest comedian right now I would say is Demitri Martin. Hes been on the Daily show a few times, watch some of his routines on Youtube, he is really fun.

Sarah Silverman herself can be hit or miss. I do enjoy her sometimes, but when she was at the MTV awards her standup was horrendous, so I dunno. I enjoy the show.
