I think it's gonna happen. In interviews Kiefer has stated that he would prefer Jack to die, and being that he is also the executive producer of the show now and would prefer to work behind the scenes it's something to think about..
To be honest, I think if Jack dies, the show will die for me. I don't think they'd kill him off till the end of series anyway, but I got a feeling a lot of other fans would see it the same as me. No one can really replace Jack, even Tony. Anyone remember Chase from season 3 and the 24 video game?
I also don't feel the show can last forever, that would just be unrealistic. And every year, there's more and more pressure on the writers to top the previous season. So I think that Jack's death would be the end-all for this series and I'm sure the writers will use that as their last big shock to 24 fans.
I really could imagine, that he will die in the movie. But I also think, then Season 7 will be the last one and so the Movie will be the end of series as they did with Firefly (that was really a pity :-( ).
All this talk about Jack dying in the movie is insane. Reason being is that everything has already been completed the movie is in it's final weeks of production. The movie is also a prequel to the seventh season of which Jack Bauer is in. So Jack Bauer dies in the movie which happens before season 7 yet somehow is alive again. I do not think the writers could or would want to pull of another similar type of storyline. JACK BAUER DOES NOT DIE IN MOVIE.
Pablo I think you are referring to the TV movie which will air sometime in the fall. That is a two hour tv special that apparantly bridges seasons 6 and 7. Season 7 will then air in January. This movie is nothing to do with the tv movie and i'm presuming it will follow on from season 7.
Now, I DO want Jack to die, but at the VERY end of 24. I can see it now: He saves the world yet again, but right before the bad guy gets restrained by backup, Jack somehow gets shot in the chest. Shouting and rushing around as Jack slumps to the floor. The sounds progressively muffle as the screen fades to black. The digital clock comes up, giving Jack the silent clock. End of 24.
"Then where does the power come from, to see the race to its end? From within."
i don't think they should kill him off, but the plot's starting to wear a bit thin, if they want to keep jack in then they should go back in time and fill in some of the gaps between series (such as continuing Palmer's election campaign, or following Jack in hiding) or have jack return to his position as head of CTU, remaining in the show but having someone like Curtis (bloody stupid idea killing the best character in the show off) take over
All I know is when they killed of Tony I was soooo pissed and he better go back to being a regular character 24 is just not the same without him, also killing his wife off pissed me off too though as long as Tony is in it then im good!
The worst main characters in television history are Jack Bauer and Michael Scofield, so yes, i want both to kill each other in the first episode of their current next seasons
I think they could have killed off Jack Bauer in the second season and gotten away with it.
At that point, the premise of the show was still "24 hours in 24 segments." An interesting premise, and bigger than any one character.
After six seasons, the premise of this show is "Jack Bauer is a badass *beep* watch him *beep* own America *beep* yeah!!" We've even seen in season 6 that the whole time measurement thing has been pretty much thrown out the window.
This show is ABOUT Jack Bauer at this point, not about 24. You could no more make someone else the main character of 24 any more than you could replace Indiana Jones or whatever.
Besides, main characters should be main characters for a reason. We already have a Doctor Who.
from the begining they said they would end it with him dieing and it would probably be a movie they did it in...so he is
and billybodiggle....did you watch the same series finale? he did die. that was his point of view. him blacking out as he got shot in the back of the head
If Jack dies it will totally change my outlook on this show, I will hate it not love it. Jack needs a happy ending i dont care how cliche' it sounds, this man has been through so much and done so much for his country he deserves to be happy
I hear what you're saying about wanting a happy ending- but it sounds increasingly like it might happen in the movie. And if it does the movie should definitely be the end- I'd hate to see Fox beat it to death by trying to milk it as a series for years afterwards with different lead actors (like they did with The X- Files- that should have ended about four years earlier than it did).
Jack. Tired of running and chasing bad guys. Sits in a toilet of a bathroom and after taking a relief puts a gun in his mouth. In his i-pod the national anthem starts to play and his cel phone rings. He puls the trigger.
I'd like it if Season 7 was the final season, and at the end he had to give his self up to terrorists or something to be killed in order to save the day. The final shot could be of them about to execute Bauer and then you hear a gunshot and the screen goes black with the silent clock. That would be an amazing ending to an amazing show.
I think that's too abrupt. Then what would happen? I would like to see a funeral or something, all the people he knew and that he gets honored as a hero or something. And even that wouldn't be good enough.
I'm along with the people who want the cheesy Jack happy ending, but he's such a tortured character, that i doubt he could be happy after everything he's done and everything that's happened. He was happy with Audrey, but I guess that's over now. And im sure some terrorist would come for him at some point, so i dont think he could ever be happy, because memories would haunt him, and if not, people would, and it's the people he loves who would end up paying for it.
So yeah to stop that from happening, i guess he would be willing to sacrifice himself, it's jack after all, he has offered to do it before if it's necessary.
But my perfect ending i think would have been S4's (??) ending, that would be just perfect, but i guess that's not an option since it's been done before.
Seriously though, think about it, everyone thinks he's dead, friends and enemies, so he could leave his past behind and really start a new life away from everything, without fearing someone would come looking for him or kill someone just because they're trying to find him. I hope his past wouldn't catch up with him eventually though! But i guess it does, since it was done.
