Great movie misunderstood!

Based off my knowledge of Deepak Chopra and whatnot I can understand what Myers was getting at with this movie. Theirs a lot of need of enlightenment in our culture and he tried to give us some indian philosphy (well researched) and some humor fused together..

I think this movie was probably over a lot of peoples heads, and some folks might not know who Deepak Chopra even is.

Cool movie, makes me feel good ;)

And the cast was BRILLIANTly chosen!!

I agree -- there isn't much of a story, it is more like the classic comedy Airplane! which is a series of gags, some of which work, and some of which don't. So I can see why people wouldn't like The Love Guru, especially it's direction by a first time Director, which is choppy. But I find it highly original and I like the attempt to put some real philosophy into a film. It didn't flow very well, but the dual ending (the elephants, the Indian dance) was hilarious.

This is a pretty stupid thread.... The movie was pretty damn funny and this not understanding crap is crazy. This is not high IQ comedy. You don't have to know anything about any culture. To be honest the only thing I've ever known about India or Indians is that they consider themselves superior for some unknown reason that I suspect stems from low self esteem. I have no desire at all to understand India in the least. I did think the movie was funny though.

Makes sense... I'm sure there was probably some things that were missed by some people. I just took everything in a very basic way. Kinda common sense stuff.

Im glad there are IMDB users who are still positive about this (in my opinion) underrated movie.

I think the continiuality (running gags jokes) he used in several other movies are unique in some ways. Mike Meyers and his agents arent stupid. Waynes World was hilarious + Austing Powers + Shrek. The storyline of The Love Guru is just very cheesy. Thats it. I have no complains about the expressions and
dry jokes. That the way Mike Meyers writes his screenplay-jokes + recurring running gags.
