Great movie misunderstood!

Based off my knowledge of Deepak Chopra and whatnot I can understand what Myers was getting at with this movie. Theirs a lot of need of enlightenment in our culture and he tried to give us some indian philosphy (well researched) and some humor fused together..

I think this movie was probably over a lot of peoples heads, and some folks might not know who Deepak Chopra even is.

Cool movie, makes me feel good ;)

And the cast was BRILLIANTly chosen!!

Was he "giving us Indian philosophy" or was he mocking it?

I can't decide. Maybe a bit of both.

I don't think this was a great movie but there are worse. Alot of the things this movie was mocking deserve to be mocked in my opinion.

It ain't no Austin Powers. And it's got alot of Canadian flavour. And it mocks alot of Americanisms. I think this is why most people dislike it. The story itself is quite weak. But I can't decide if it wanted to be this way or not. Choosing Jessica Alba to play the female lead, and her acting in it is sort of a parody in itself. The whole movie is impossible to take seriously. But I found alot of the jokes funny.

One thing that irritates me about imdb boards it's the "looks like" topics. Never even close.

"probably over a lot of peoples heads"

Exactly right, but for the wrong reason. This movie was irrelevant. The jokes were hijacked from Austin Powers, but the plot is tailored towards the Hollywood fad of "gurus".

Mike Myers has become too wealthy, too pampered, and too Hollywood. He has lost touch with the common man. And for this, he made this film that nobody but a rich Hollywood a-hole would even get.

Good comedy is about looking at reality, and revealing it for its flaws, for its irony.

It is certainly possible to make people relate, and laugh, even with the most obscure material, if there is actual comedy. The problem is, not only has Mike Myers lost touch with the world most people live in, he's not spent one bit of his luxurious time developing some new material.

The best comedians know once they have their pinnacle performance with their material, if they want back up on top, they need new material. Often stand up comedians will build up until they get to do an HBO special or a Comedy Central special. For Mike Myers, it should be a big film. Then he needs to get back to work and come up with something new. He hasn't done that in decade.

This film was contrived and should have served as a wake up call to Myers.

This film was as informative about Indian philosophy as From Justin to Kelly was about modern dance.

This movie is paid homage to indian philisophy by poking fun at it. It's meant to entertain, not enlighten. Sure the plot and jokes were tried and true and not earth-shattering... who cares, it's fun. I laugh at people who need to find meaning in everything. Sometimes it's just meant to be fun and a lot silly.

Yeah, I was definitely thinking about how the poop jokes and the dick jokes were going over people's heads. Apparently enlightening the audience about Indian philosophy is having Indian men mop each other with urine. Really sophisticated, misunderstood stuff.

LOL love these "it's misunderstood" comments. Sorry, but this my is GOD AWFUL NOT FUNNY.

Penis jokes over peoples heads, please!!!! Lame attempt at bad humor is all it is.

I also know damn well who Dipstick Chopra is and he's just another clown is more full of himself than anything else (just like Mike Myers). I don't buy into the New Age Spirituality crap or his views on quantum mechanics to healing processes.
