Dan Fogler (the fat guy) ruined this movie.

I love the 80's theme of this movie, even though some of the nostalgia was dumbed down and seemed to be be trying too hard. Almost like 80's for Dummies. Topher Grace and Teresa Palmer were awesome. This would have ended up being a favorite movie of mine had it not been for Dan Fogler. I cannot stand this guy. I don't know how he got into show business and into movies. He damn near ruined this movie for me. He's fat, untalented and he thinks he's stealing the show in every scene he's in. He may actually be worse than Jonah Hill. At least Jonah Hill had Superbad. This untalented fat bastard had Fanboys, one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. In fact, Dan Fogler is one of the many reasons Fanboys was a steaming pile of dog *beep* Overall, Take Me Home Tonight ended up being pretty good. The second half of the movie redeemed the Fogler-ized first half.

I think 'someone' (wink, wink) is either obsessing over Dan Fogler... or fat guys.

He's already got a reputation for being a bit over the top. The botched attempted pick-up in the video store made me cringe. But that's what was intended!

So score one for Fogler. He can act.

reply

Yeah, I hate him in other movies, but actually thought he did okay here.

Dan is a bit over the top. Trying too hard to be like Chris Farley and falling way, way short. Jonah Hill is definitely a much better actor over all. Just watch him in Superbad, Moneyball, Cyrus & Funny People. Dan Folger is just not a great actor. I got a chance to see him in person at the SDCC where we screen his Balls of Fury movie. It was pretty bad. He was all hyped for it and fans scream and cheered for him at that time, but no one went and saw that movie. I definitely wasn't going to see it again, after seeing it for free. I was hoping Dan would get a breakout part where he could shine, but so far, nothing. In every movie he pretty much acts the same. Over the top, out of control comedic actor. Chris Farley and even Jim Carrey has done it to death and done it better.

Jonah has actually lost some weight in the process.

I wish Dan the best, but unless he does some serious roles (like Jim Carrey has done) I don't see anyone taking him as a serious actor.

It's not "acting" playing yourself. Dan Fogler is the same brash, obnoxious idiot in every movie I've seen him in. I don't hate or obsess over fat people but I do strenuously object to brash, obnoxious idiots. Then, if they have all those character flaws, I'll pick on their heft Haha

reply

You're right...
he sucked.

His overacting wasn't funny.

I thought he was funny in this flick. I love how he looked lost and out of place at the Beverly Hills party when super smokin' hot chick, Angie Everhart (Trish Anderson), knew he had coke on him and went up to him and asked, "is it snowin' out?" He replies, "no it's 65 degrees." She then goes "you wanna party?", basically playing a coke whore and getting it on with him in the bathroom while her elderly friend watches. Hilarious! I loved this movie!

Dan fogler was the only funny thing about the movie.

reply

When he kicked the guy in the nuts twice in the dance-off was tops for me.

reply

lol - the second nut kick was hysterical

Loved this guy in the movie, and think he's pretty funny. He's just like Chris Farley, or Jack Black..they have their own style.

reply

yeah that was pretty funny, I thought he did a good job in this
a lot of wacky stuff

Fogler killed it in this movie. He's Jonah Hill with an edge. Love that guy. Suck it, haters!!!

Dan Fogler deserves a Razzie nomination for his performance in this film.

reply

You are SO right. This irritating, grating, unfunny ass clown totally RUINED this movie! It's rare that an entire film can be utterly DESTROYED by one actor, but Fogler singlehandedly sunk this Titanic with scene after scene of lame high-school-play-quality mugging. A truly cringeworthy performance.

They should take away his SAG card and ban him from ever making movies again.

just cause he's not Chris Farley don't mean he sucks. NWA playing unedited when they steel the car? how can you say that isn't the s#it?

I think that he pretty much ruins every movie he's in. This could've been hysterical if there was another actor in his role. I find this actor to be so incredibly annoying. I don't think he's funny at all.

You just might get lucky for once in your miserable life.

reply

Thaks.. you saved me.

I was about to check out this movie when I read your entry and realized this idiot was in this movie.

I'm just happy he's not in more movies.

Cheers!

I thought Dan Fogler was one of the things that made this movie great! I actually think that he is one of the funniest comedic actors out there!

I agree. I thought his no-holds-barred approach was perfect for the movie. He did a great job, and I look forward to seeing him in other movies.

reply

You guys have it all wrong, he's not supposed to be Chris Farley, he supposed to be Curtis Armstrong - he's fat, with black curly hair, he's gross and this is supposed to be the 80's! As that type of character, he was perfect. His acting was good and his time was great. And by the way, Chris Farley was not a great actor...we could be funny and his movies were fun, but at no time were his characters believable. He was a poor-man's Belushi.

reply

I've seen worser 'Jack Black' immitations than Dan Fogler. He was bearable I thought

reply

I agree with that comment. I also think that Dan Fogler was more then ok for role he played.
