Open 'World' Games: LOL

Looks like we as gamers are destined to visit the same three places for the rest of eternity (like they don't get enough screentime in the movies). Way to go Rockstar, I'm a bigger fan than anyone - I am near certain this game will be fun, exciting, and have a great story. It will be awesome...

But 0 points for originality.

San Andreas is the best GTA game, so I don't blame them for going back there for the PS3/X-BOX 360

"Best" is clearly subjective. It was certainly the most polished and heaily featured. If they wanted to do a remake of San Andreas, I would have been all for that. Obviously they wanted to bring a greater level of detail to the environment. Otherwise I think visiting the same places over and over is silly. We already had (at least) two games in each setting, aside from San Andreas, and it's big enough it didn't need it anyway.

But yeah, I get it.

I have to agree San Andreas was definetly mine. I also loved Vice City.

But I was looking forward to a new a city as well. I'm really hoping it will have the major cities featuring again, I used to love those desert drives from Los Santos to whatever the Vegas place was called.

SweetPizza, do I have to point out what an idiot you are? I have a feeling you get it a lot. I wouldn't want to tell you anything you already know - which can't be much anyway.

San Andreas, Vice City and Liberty City has pretty much always been the main focus in the GTA universe. Didn't GTA 1 include all of these areas, but in smaller scale?

Yeah... San Andreas was also a city then, and one of the games took place in London. Obviously things were different when the games wer top down, and really, I think it just proves the point I was making.

I remember comparing the original GTA1 Liberty City map the GTA4 map and being amazed how very similar they were. They were both clearly modeled closely after NYC, whereas the GTA3 version of LC was more of its own thing and meant to convey aspects of multiple big US cities, not just NY but also Chicago, Philadelphia, etc.

I think, they're trying to improve upon the theme of original Grand Theft Auto before expanding the "open world". It actually has expanded before and more recently, considering that neither Las Venturas nor San Fiero were in GTA "1", and how Alderney and Blaine are new with the HD universe.
