why were no Scandanivian or German Actors casted

I love Hemsworth but I feel they missed Chance to have Swedish Alexander Skarsgard who is filming True Blood at the time in role was he swamped though? The Thors Mythology has German and Scandanavian it doesn't make sense he was very close to the role its slightly better now have actors from native countries play there native mythological counterparts
