This Movie Drank, Fought, and Did its Ancestors Proud

Someone needs to use that great line in a title thread here... come on!

So many memorable lines and scenes in this film. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Favorite lines: The whole SHIELD agent on the roof scene ("Is there a Renaissance fair in town?" "We've got Xena, Jackie Chan and Robin Hood...")

Favorite Scene: Thor killing that giant monster and then landing cool as can be

Anyone care to list theirs???

Thor is the best movie that I've seen in the past year.

Glad you finally got to see it. I'm also glad the world is discovering this wonderful film more and more every day that goes by.

reply

Thank you, DUKEJBM. I saw it just today with my folks and we LOVED it! Well, I LOVED it more!!!!!!! I'm working on actually seeing it at least one more time before the DVD/Bluray later on this year.

reply

I've seen Thor in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D and enjoyed it every single time I saw it. Loved the IMAX experience but I think Pirates kicked it out so that doesn't matter now. Try it in 3D to compare is my opinion.

reply

You're the lucky one, sacflyzone. I wanted to see it in 2D but the 3D experience won me over. It was INCREDIBLE! My mom and I were amazed! And the movie is beyond AMAZING! I just need to go back and see it again, and I'm set.

reply

It's like good-n-plenty.

Great film and a fun time at the cinema. Best movie of the summer so far.

"Listen to him, he's talking about 'Thor', and 'Mjolnir' and 'Bifrost'...its the comic book stories I grew up with as a child."

reply

"I still don't believe you're the god of thunder but you ought to be."

reply

LOL! I love that line, Avengers! I was giggling when Erik said that to Thor while drunk as he was putting him to bed.

reply

The scene that followed and that came before were some of the best written scenes in the whole film if not the entire year. Moving and meaningful.

reply

Absolutely, Avengers. Those scens are some of my favorite scenes. Not only were some of the moving and meaningful, they were funny and too cute.

reply

Great great film.

reply

I wonder who they'll tap to direct the third film?

reply

Same here, Apolodine. I LOVE just about EVERYTHING about this movie. It had everything in it that I admired and enjoyed.

reply

Love it when they add scenes like this to lighten the mood.

reply

Bombastic!! This is a film that moves at lightning speed, (PUN INTENDED) egged on by Ken Branagh’s bold direction. Thor takes its energy from character development and conflict. The well paced action and conflict scenes are like nothing you’ve ever seen before and that’s saying something in this day and age.
Ken Branagh’s direction should be nominated.

reply

Avengers, even though it may be unfortunate that Kenneth Branagh might not be nominated for Best Director for the crumby Oscars, I agree with you. His direction was incredible.

reply

Has Kenneth Branagh been signed for the sequel yet?

reply

I'm not sure, doet. But I hope so. He did a magnificent job directing.

reply

Is a sequel officially in works?

reply

No official word but the cast was signed for three films, Loki/Thor are shooting in Avengers as I type this and it officially is a big money maker. After Iron Man 3, I'd bet we'll see Thor 2.

reply

Whoa, whoa, whoa... There's going to be an Iron Man 3??

Oh I'm SO behind..Lol.

reply

Yeah, Iron Man 3 with the director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. So, he's done great work with RDJ before. Apparently, they have a great script in place.

reply

Thor is one of the two best films of the entire year.

reply

Kenneth Branagh should be honored. His job in making this film not only work but be great should be recognized.

Saw Thor again at the bargain cinema and it still holds up as one of the best of the summer.

reply

It holds up better than most other films all year long, not just summer.

reply

Thor will always be remembered as an origin story done right. It's kicking the crap out of all films on flickchart all summer long!

reply

I think we fans had better cool it with the cosmic stuff. I'm predicting that Green Lantern is going to land with a resounding thud in theatres next month. That is going to scare the hell out of any cosmic plotlines in the future. Avengers may be immune because of the hype but Thor in space or with Thanos involved will not go over well with general audiences. Avatar aside, crazy fantasy films turn people off.

That's why I like this site. So many smart posters. Well, the non-trolls anyway!

reply

Thanos can work especially if it's just a cameo and it's his army Loki hijacks.

reply

Yes, but Thanos would be one character too many. No need to jam him in just to see him. (Like Gambit in Origins)

reply

The fans themselves hate wasted cameos. They niether help the film nor make fans happy. So, why does Fox use them??? Wasting Gambit, Angel, Colossus and even Juggernaut hurts box office and word of mouth. Hope they learned their lesson from how Marvel does it.

reply

Fox seems to get it now. First Class is as good as Thor and that says a lot.
