I've noticed that it's mostly Americans who don't get it. Some actually think that air guitar is somehow stealing their gigs.

Why? It's not like it's an unhealthy habit or anything. If they want to do it, it's their own business. If you aren't interested in the subject you shouldn't have watched this movie.
