He WON'T get the Oscsar!!!

Even though I am a big fan of Don Cheadle I am afraid that he will not get the Oscar next year. I think that he will most definitely get nominated but won't win. BRAD PITT will get the award for his movie The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford. Several reasons why Brad Pitt will get it, first of all, He is everyones favourtie, he is a great actor, he is a devoted father, he is funny and he has only been nominated once before and lost. Second, he really deserves it, he has worked hard and made very good movies lately and he should have been nominated last year for Babel. And third, Forest Whitaker won last year and Forest is black and I don't think that the Academy will vote for two black actors two years in a row. Just think of it, BABEL was a MUCH BETTER movie than The Departed but it still didn't win, why? Because CRASH won the year before and BABEL was to similar to Crash. Those are the three main reasons why Brad Pitt will win and not Don Cheadle. To be honest with you I really don't care who wins since I like them both but I would be more happy if Brad won because he deserves it but I would also be happy if Don wins because he isn't as big as Brad Pitt and I like it when the small defeat the big.

Honestly, considering the trend for Oscar winners, it won't bother me if Don Cheadle doesn't win. The trend that I've noticed is that when people win Oscars, the next movie that comes out with them in it *sucks!*

Halle Berry - Won for Monster's Ball, her next movie was Catwoman.

Jamie Foxx - Won for Ray, his next movie was Stealth

Reese Witherspoon - Won for Walk the Line - her next movie was Far From Heaven

I hate to see my favorites go downhill like that, you know.

Don't forget what happened to Cuba Gooding Jr., he hasn't seemed to recover yet.

Uh... yea.. get off Brad Pitt's nutsack.

I read all these posts and everyone overlooked an obvious choice for an Oscar. ADAM SANDLER FOR REIGN OVER ME! All you Sandler haters can save your posts about how bad some of his movies are. There's no denying he was incredible in Reign Over Me. He deserves an Oscar just as much, if not moreso, than Cheadle.

Brad Pitt never wins. Or even gets nominated.
I think Cheadle will get a nomination.
I think Casey Affleck should win for Gone Baby Gone. However, I'm not sure if he will even get nominated. I hope so he was really good. They both were good in their films.

Obviously none of you have seen "Things We Lost in the Fire". If you do..then there will be no question who should win Best Actor. If Benicio Del Toro does not win......then the Academy has zero credibility. I saw American Gangster...and Talk to Me. While the lead performances were all good....I don't think anyone else could even compare to Benicio in his role.

Don Cheadle's performance in Talk to Me was much better than Brad Pitt's performance in any movie, showing versatility as well as passion. While he may not win for it, I think he definitely deserves a nomination for leading actor, even though his character was equally weighed with Chiwetel Ejiofor's. And Babel was just Crash on an international scale, and a cheap shot at winning following the formula to what just won. P.S. Why would Brad being a loving father have anything to do with his winning an oscar?

I do not think race ( at least i try to think muhammed ) will determine if Don wins a Oscar. But Don was nice in this role and it would be nice to see him get nominated, but sometimes the Academy usually nominates movies that have alot of buzz around the flick. But " Talk To Me " was one of the best movies of 07 i have seen. Don always brings it on screen and hopefully one of these days, he will win a Oscar.

You said it perfect Blue. I do not look at color either. Good to see someone make good points on movies from time to time. Take care Blue.

After today's Golden Globe snub for everything "Talk to Me," you are right. It's a shame.

Blah, blah, blah. Unfortunately the only thing you are correct about in your post is that Don Cheadle will probably not win the Oscar for this performance but not for any of the inane reasons you state. He won't win for the same reasons that Petey Green was not readily accepted by the white media. "They" don't give Oscars for portrayals of African American revolutionaries - African ones, yes, but African Americans, no.

Yes, the Oscars are full of politics and pandering. Thankfully, I don't rely on the awards to define which films are good and noteworthy, or when they should be celebrated.
