He WON'T get the Oscsar!!!

Even though I am a big fan of Don Cheadle I am afraid that he will not get the Oscar next year. I think that he will most definitely get nominated but won't win. BRAD PITT will get the award for his movie The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford. Several reasons why Brad Pitt will get it, first of all, He is everyones favourtie, he is a great actor, he is a devoted father, he is funny and he has only been nominated once before and lost. Second, he really deserves it, he has worked hard and made very good movies lately and he should have been nominated last year for Babel. And third, Forest Whitaker won last year and Forest is black and I don't think that the Academy will vote for two black actors two years in a row. Just think of it, BABEL was a MUCH BETTER movie than The Departed but it still didn't win, why? Because CRASH won the year before and BABEL was to similar to Crash. Those are the three main reasons why Brad Pitt will win and not Don Cheadle. To be honest with you I really don't care who wins since I like them both but I would be more happy if Brad won because he deserves it but I would also be happy if Don wins because he isn't as big as Brad Pitt and I like it when the small defeat the big.

He's really that good in it?!? I haven't seen many Brad Pitt movies but I really want to see the Jesse James flick.

Cheadle will very very likely not be nominated.

i agree with you that even though don chadle will get nominated,he will not get the oscar, but brad pitt will not be the reason why!!"talk to me" has really two equal co-stars(this is for the director to blame, she should have put even more weight on don's role).I will bet my money on an outsider.Viggo Mortensen for Eastern Promises. But Denzel will win it at the end for american gangster.you will see

THE WORLD IS YOURS

Taraji should get a best supporting actress nom for her role this film. That would be a pleasant surprise. She'll probably get overlooked by Oscar though the Spirit Awards will undoubtedly show her some love. Denzel will probably be pissed if he wins again for playing a gangster. Out of all of his powerful performances and the many time that he has been nominated, to win for two negative images and a slave would really be something to ponder.

reply

Ultimately, I agree with you. Cheadle will, in the future, get nominated and win for some movie he doesn't truly deserve---what happened to Robin Williams and Morgan Freeman. Pity Oscars. He deserved the Best Acotor in 2005 for Hotel Rwanda---it did not belong to Jamie Foxx, and his enlongated impression of Ray Charles. I can see Cheadle winning a Golden Globe for Talk to Me....but that's pretty much it.

I disagree with your theory on Brad Pitt's win. Not only did he not deserve an Oscar for Babel, but he's not that amazing of an actor. If he even gets nominated, Pitt may be in the running with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Jaoquin Pheonix, Daniel Day-Lewis, Christian Bale, James McAvoy, Johnny Depp, Ryan Gosling, Viggo Mortenson, Tommy Lee Jones, and Denzel Washington (all of whom far exceed Pitt in terms of acting ability).

If anyone appears to be award-worthy from 'Jesse James,' it's Casey Affleck. A Best Supporting Actor nod for him seems a little more than plausible. Though I'm still firm on Steve Zahn for Rescue Dawn....though I'm a Herzog freak, therefore biased.

reply

At this point, I don't think he will be nominated. The Golden Globes could help.

reply

Oh, I don't think he deserves it either. It was a decent performance at best...though it truly showcases his versatility.

reply

If he is nominated, why didn't Cuba Gooding Jr. not get nominated for Radio or Denzel Washington for Remember the Titans?

reply

Well....Cuba Gooding Jr. wasn't all that great in Radio, a laughable performance in my opinion. Denzel Washington was great in Remember the Titans sure, but I think he's been better in so much more (Training Day, Malcom X), so Titans was a tad underwhelming in the grander scheme.

Cheadle won't get an Oscar nod. Golden Globe probably.

reply

Brad Pitt won't even get nod. Competition is very hard this year, but I hope that at the end Denzel, Russell, Daniel Day Lewis, Phoenix and finally Don will make nominations.

reply

If anything, Casey Affleck's gonna be the one who earns a nod for Jesse James

reply

What about Chiwetel Ejiofor. Do you think they might push him as a supporting actor? I haven't Talk to Me yet it hasn't come out in the UK and when I was in the US it didn't come near me, but I hear that Chiwetel puts in a great performance, and I'd love it if he got an oscar.

~If you say "I had everything under control" one more time I'm going to slap you with my guitar.~

reply

I can tell why because Denzel did not put his effort into the role. Neither did Cuba did with his role in Radio. It wouldn't be surprising if BRad pitt gets nominated but I can't predict what would happen anyway? It might be that Chris Cooper for Breach, Don Cheadle for Talk to Me, Richard Gere for The Hunting Party, and Christian Bale for Rescue Dawn but like I said I can't predict who they would nominate but either way it is not black and white thing that they are doing. Heck I don't know if Guy Pierce would be nominated for FActory Girl. You who said that Brad Pitt is winning, please!!!!!

This is why I think if he gets nominated this time he may actually win. Him and Ridley Scott for American Gangster, sinc they're both people who have been passed over previously. If thye can give Judi Dench an Oscar for 8 minutes of screen time then they can do anything.

Ryan GOlsing's performance in 'Lars' is far superior anyways...and they subbed him last year, so unfortunately I don't think there's any hope for CHeadle. Maybe next year.

....Philip Seymour Hoffman has a couple (I think 3) roles which could be favorited too...look at those.

reply

Cheadle is good in this movie, but not Oscar good. He shouldn't win, and shouldn't be nominated.

I have not seen "The Assassination of Jesse James" so i cant judge on Pitts performance but Don Cheadle was fantastic in this and he at least deserves a nomination

neither Pitt or Cheadle generated much talk/box office receipts. I think the big Oscar race will be led by a movie that scintillated the audience as well as the critics, as well as one or two art house flicks that come out jsut before Oscars so they are fresh in everyones mind.

I agree about "Babel" & "the Departed" however. After seeing Babel I thought it got a raw deal because everyone was so mad at Crash winnning the previous year. But it ended up being a MUCH more textured film than "Crash", but suffered from the Crash association.

Don Cheadle will get a nomination.

reply

The Oscars LOVE true stories and actors playing real life people. Don was also awesome in Reign Over me -- the Oscars also give awards for two good films together, one not being better than the other (Kevin Spacey - American Beauty and Se7en)

I hope he wins, he totally deserves it

reply

So I'm a big Don Cheadle fan and if he gets nominated I'll be very happy, but to be honest, I thought Chiwetel Ejiofor and Taraji P. Henson were as good if not better, and should definitely get respective Oscar nods for supporting actor/actress.
