Is any one else pissed that there is a re-make of this movie?!

Grr

Why would anyone be pissed about it? The original movie is left untouched and isn't ruined in any way whatsoever. In fact, remakes tend to raise awareness of the originals so it can only be positive.

I like the idea of remakes, but the american remake does look rather poor judging from the trailer.

The remake is much better.

I guess I'm going to really piss the original poster off, but I have only seen the remake, but in my defense I'm black and so this version is about as appealing to me as RIDE ALONG would be to you.

It was done with an all black cast, I guess it sells so...

Me and my wife were watching the remake as it was on the Telly last night. We both agreed it wasn't all that funny or entertaining. So I flipped in the original. We both agreed that the original was Much better and funny as hell.

This has been the funniest movie I have ever seen!!!! I can't believe we (the US) have to re-make and ruin everything. Didn't we learn anything from "The Office"? BBC version was far superior and having only 2 seasons and a finale was perfect

Ah, devil ether. It makes you behave like the village drunkard in some early Irish novel.

Screw Hollywood and their never letting up Remake Syndrome. Drama or comedy; the Brits act much better to begin with. Their hamming it up is more subtle and refined than when Americans do it, their acting in general always has a certain well-bred class.
This is a delightful black comedy and while casting Dinklage was a find in itself, for me Alan Tudyk absolutely steals the show as an involuntary druggie. The face (and the ass) of that man!
Being a slapsticky screenplay, one shouldn't stumble over goofs and continuity errors, but some kept nagging at me: If one acid pill freaks out Tudyk totally (and according to his 'dealer' good for eight hours of spaced out bliss), why did five of them have little effect on the Dinklage character? By the time he gets attacked by the raging widow, he is quite sober again. Also, as someone else here noticed too, how could a wheelchair bound old man climb the stairs to the roof?
It doesn't really matter, Grumpy Gramps closes off the movie in a splendid way.
So I enjoyed myself enormously and will never ever watch the remake. As I always refused to see the American version of the wonderful french comedy La Cage aux Folles, the senseless 1990's Psycho and the atrocious yankee-doodling with the Dutch thriller Spoorloos. Then how do I know they are awful? Trustworthy sources warned me off.
