Please, enough with the -----!! [**SPOILER**]

Was finding the movie reasonably enjoyable until they unveiled Lily as a demon! Why oh why do filmmakers spoil a perfectly acceptable movie with these stupid "creatures"? Interestingly, the other film that comes to mind at the moment that really annoyed me in this respect was Silent Hill, another Jodelle Ferland movie. Now I understand that this was based on the game, and okay, getting around demon-like beings in a game might be thrilling, but I don't think it translates well into a movie. I can suspend disbelief to accept lots of far out things, e.g. death via hallucinations (Case 39) or even zombies, if there is a *scientific* explanation for them, but NOT lame demon creatures with even lamer CGI. I'd much prefer Orphan or The Good Son or even The Bad Seed to a movie ruined by this feeble device!

Yeah, demons are a silly idea. I'm really not scared of things that I do not believe in at all, which is why I find 90% of ghosts movies laughable/boring.

However, from right away, I pretty much expected that the girl was evil, from the moment her parents tried killing her. On the other hand, I'm with you in finding naturalistic (aka scientific, or, rather 'survival') horror much more engaging than when they have supernatural things like this. When something can be rationalized or relatable, I'm much more drawn in. On the other hand, you can't rationalize demons.

Regardless, the movie was fairly well done. It managed to be well done enough overall for me to suspend my disbelief somewhat. I gave it a 7 (mostly because I think the rating should be somewhere between a 6 and a 7).

Folks such as yourself, with your "science" and your materialism, are responsible for taking all the magic and myth out of this world.

F@#k your "*scientific* explanations."

not sure if anybody will see this, but I must say this:

WTF does the movies "trailer" have anything to do with anything.
the director would have absolutely nothing to do with the trailers for this
movie. not to mention this movie was made in 2006/2007 and wasn't released
until 2010. I am sick and tired of people complaining that a trailer has
"misrepresented" the plot of a movie. there are multiple other ways to
find out about new movies that our coming out, or have come out.
obviously people are going to make sure that they know when the
big ones, like The Avengers, is coming out and the showtimes and what-not,
but for movies like this that most people just rent or Netflix or "download",
the best way is to use a site like Jo Blo, were you can see all the movies
that are coming out and it shows the covers of the DVDs. There should be
absolutely no reason for anyone to see a trailer for a movie. that's why
downloading them is the best way, legally if must be, because you can just
go through the list and download EVERYTHING!!!!! then you watch them,
all of them. if it looks boring, just skim through it. I get through some
movies in about 20-30 minutes. I get the jist of it and I am done. If it
looked good, I'll go back to the beginning and watch it through.
watching the trailer for a movie is f-ing retarded. It can give the wrong
impression, it can give away plot points. only a total a-hole would
complain about a trailer not matching a movie. the trailer is only there
for one thing, to sell tickets, rentals, and DVDs, anyway it can.

Much agreed. Rhoda (from The Bad Seed, 1956), the creepy, conniving, ten-year-old, homicidal sociopath was a hundred times more scary because she was real, and not under the control of a cheap, CGI demon.

Any failure to ignore the trolls will only grant them the satisfaction they seek!
