My father Bill Evans

Anybody know if my father (pianist Bill Evans) will be portrayed in the film?

Evan Evans

reply

Since nobody else here has mentioned it, I will. Evan, when your father passed, Miles was quoted as saying:"I learned more from Bill Evans than from anyone else in music." I remember where I was that September because of his passing & Miles tribute. I had just moved into NYC was was planning to see him at his next Vanguard gig, but it was not to be. I listen to his music nearly every day.

Ah that's really special. By the way, I looked everywhere for a source on that quote. Maybe Miles said it, but in different words. If you happen to know the source, let me know, I'd like to share that with fans of my father on the Estate's social media. That is a strong statement. All my best,
Evan

Bill Evans was a great musician, I enjoy his work with his trio and as a sideman on Miles' work. I enjoy his piano style.

Wish he had of been in it. Those were the years that the film should have covered. Much respect to your father Evan.

I don't think anyone answered your original question.
Yes he is in it. And anyone that knows Bill Evans will know exactly when, (it's obvious; kudos to the actor) and there is a great moment between him and Miles, a simple touch. It made me feel like I was right there.

After this movie I went home and set up a play list of Miles on my server. Then after that I set one up of Mr. Evans!

In the movie Miles mentions Frederick Chopin and his influence on his music. Those remarks can easily be inferred to Evans music too for me.

Ephemeron.

reply

Yes your Dad is in the movie, he calls him by name and his playing is instantly recognizable. At least to me as Bill Evans is my all time favorite musician and I have almost all of his albums and cd's. I love his music, and good luck in your own career.

reply

When Tony Bennett did an album with Bill Evans he didn't hire any other musicians because Tony Bennett said bill Evans played like an orchestra all by himself.

Just want to tell you how much your Father mean't to me, and the world of music, Mr. Evans. He is dearly missed, and I will treasure his work always.
