Public Notification

That scene where Ben notifies the parents in that general store in front of everyone. I thought Woody was going to chew his ass out for notifying them in public like that, but instead he berates him for the personal physical contact. Isn't the fact that he notified them in public like that way more of a problem? I couldn't understand why he didn't even mention that.
