Worst Movie Ever

This movie may just beat 'Failure to Launch' as the worst movie ever made. A number of reasons are as follows:

1. It's the worst script I've ever read in my life. It goes nowhere, has no point, and is a total waste of time. Who greenlit this?

2. Fred Durst? He can't direct! Not even his own music videos, which is thousands of times easier because he only has to direct himself. Now he has to direct two personalities who think they have an indie career, as well as tens of unknown actors in which this is their first gig.

3. The performances, as directed by the most despised man on the planet, Mr. Durst, will RUIN the actors careers and possibilities for future roles. Good luck John and Jesse.

4. It could also possibly be the worst-cast movie ever. John Ritter is totally unfitting as Mick and Eva Amurri doesn't do Mary's character justice.

5. The ending leads to nowhere and is a huge disappointment.... not to mention the PLOT, which has maybe one or two conflicts.

reply

Slow way down there and stop making false judgements. The people behind this movie are all talented creatives, I know this for a fact. And get your facts straight- it's Jason ritter. A very talented man. John left a legacy of his own.

reply

he didnt say Jason Ritter was an unfitting actor, just that this role was unfitting to his style.

reply

Saw this at its premiere at Tribeca and actually Ritter rocked in this movie. he gave a chilling portrayal of guy from the wrong side of the tracks who fought to the bitter end who he really was. The performance could have been one dimensional but he brought a humanity to the role that cariied an otherwise lackluster film. hope he gets some notice for this.

reply

He said Jason was John- as he's just a troll who wants to bash on this movie without even watching it. The OP is a douchebag- let us slam him as so.

he's the actor... he's the one who got to adjust to the role, not the role to him...

reply

He said "John", not "Jason".

This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.

And not one of you has actually seen the movie, have you? I just love all you psychics out there who go so far out of your way to condemn things sight unseen. You don't really think anything you say has an ounce of credibility, do you?

When does this movie come out??

reply

No word on a release date yet, but it debuts at the Tribeca Film Festival this weekend.

reply

good movie better then i thought it would be

reply

Did you see it at Tribeca, Alex? Could you tell us more?

reply

yea my brother was in it,so i saw the screening. the characters in the story are developed well given us a reason to watch. that was something fred did a good job at which i didnt expect.this was something fred took his time on and made something different and original.

reply

I saw it last night, and first of all I have to admit I'm a little biased, as a piece of music of mine was used in the film. But I wouldn't have even let them use the film if I hadn't seen an early cut and been really moved by it.

I just can't for the life of me understand what in this film leads you to criticize it so heavily. I think the casting was totally brilliant. I mean, all of the main characters were extremely well-drawn and very insightfully played. The relationship between Charlie and Mick (which could have been done in a very unsubtle and cliche'd way) was very ambiguous and strong. I think in the case of casting for Mick, it was very wise playing against stereotypes because the audience sees a big transformation in this character and it is so much more believable...

It's a very sober film, perhaps that is what might surprise a lot of the folks seeing this with Fred Durst's previous work in mind. It's very smart. Very heart-felt too. I hate to use the scary word "tender" but the film certainly has that aspect at times. It is also at times brutal and a bit shocking. And with the inclusion of Jesse Eisenberg, who gives another absolutely fascinating performance, you could certainly pair this film up with Squid and the Whale, although it is very different indeed.

The soundtrack written by John Swihart is also really gorgeous. My only crits for this film come in the mixing of it. Sometimes I wanted to hear his music a little louder. It's a really wonderfully written soundtrack and I had hoped it would be a little more featured, but that's probably because I am a musician and heard the music without the film first.

"The Education of Charlie Banks" is very well directed, and I have to say it's a very strong first feature from Mr. Durst. I hope the film gets good distribution. This is a major chapter change for Fred Durst, it would seem to me, a totally different direction for the guy. I hope people watch the film with opened minds...

reply

Thanks, Fredo. I really can't wait to see it. Marquette said last week that he saw it and loved it and he was looking forward to the screening at Tribeca. He said he'd recommend it to almost anyone, even he wasn't in it. Sounds great!

reply

The film just won an award at the Tribeca film festival. Can;t be all that bad................

reply

I have not seen the movie, but want to. I have heard good reviews for it so I would have to say the original poster must have had . . .
1. some horible experience relating to this movie, and it resurfaced bad feelings.
2.) is jealous of Fred Durst
3.) 1 and 2.

reply

ZOMG shocking! Its the worse movie ever police!

reply

Really, becuase Greh Kirshling (sp) of Entertainment Weekly said it was pretty friggin' good. It debuted at Tribeca, and he called it "very above average" among other things.
I haven't seen it, but I think you shouldn't sell it short just because it has a douchebag director... lots of movies do.

reply

Almost all the word on the movie so far has been great. Don't let one rotten apple spoil the bunch. EVERY movie on IMDb has at least a few posters calling it the "WORST MOVIE EVER!". Par for the course. And did you notice the OP never really bothered to defend his position. Probably because he doesn't have one. He hasn't seen the film. So who cares about that idiot? Just another Durst-hatin' troll.

reply

The film won the Tribeca "Made in NYC" award yesterday! :)

reply

Who are you kidding?? you wrote this on July 10th??? the movie just premiered last week at Tribeca, it's getting all great reviews, i heard it won an award yesterday. it would surprise me if you were even able to see it on july 10th - but even if you had (which i doubt) it could not have been the finished product or are you just the only person on the planet with this opinion??? Let me guess... did you try out for a part and get turned down??

reply

Nah, Bean, the OP just hates Durst. Trust me. There's been a ton of troll vomit on this board and it will only get worse as we get closer to release. But it looks like Fred proved everyone wrong, huh?

reply

Hey Sis, i don't know if Durst set out to prove everyone wrong or to just make a great movie, i only know that i saw the movie at the festival and it was unbelievable. As a matter of fact, Tribeca has scheduled 2 more showings because of the huge interest and people calling to see it. It will be shown tomorrow at 2 and 5 - i'm going to try and see it again. Wait till it hits nationwide!

reply

Two additional screenings? Can I quote you on that? Wow! I'm really getting geeked up for it now. So how's Marquette in the movie?

reply

You can quote me, actually you can read it for youself on the Tribeca site. As far as Chris M., he was great, very believable in the role - he plays a great part. All the actors did an excellent job.

reply

Cool, thanks. Somehow, I just can't wrap my head around the character Chris told us he's playing, "A Guido New York guy who thinks he's a real bad ass". But I certainly can't wait to see it!

reply

Chris is really great in the movie. The first time I saw it his performance (and that of Jesse's) stood out the most to me.

reply

Awesome, Fredo. Thanks for sharing that. Is he in it very much? Most of what we've seen this year, he's barely in.

reply

Yes, he is in the movie alot. He is one of trio of friends that is always hanging around together. We are talking about Chris Marquette, right?

reply

Yes sir. Thank you. Everyone will be very happy to hear that. Too much of his stuff was cut from Alpha Dog & The Invisible. It's getting a bit depressing. Nice to hear he's in this one a bunch.

reply

I wish him luck. He's a very talented actor.

reply

Indeed. He starts shooting a lead role in a big action comedy for Summer 2008 in a couple of weeks. We're really excited for him.

reply

Sis, i just got a copy of May 21, 2007 PEOPLE magazine. On page 38 is the People movie critic's along with 5 other judges' top choice for a movie at Tribeca. They chose the Education of Charlie Banks! It talks about Durst, Jason Ritter, Eva Amurri - and the last line says "Keep an eye out for it".

reply

Woohooo! Fantastic!!!!

reply

Thanks, Beans. That's great!

-----------------------

1. Did you actually read the script? Or did you just feel like asking the question "who greenlit this?" because you work and mcdonalds and probably will never have the chance to say it anywhere else?

2. He only has to direct himself in music videos? Ah, interesting. Here I thought he had to moderate the lighting, make sure all the scenery was positioned in the way he wanted, and that everything fit the video enviorment that he wanted to create, not just act in the video himself. Thanks for helping me gain a better understanding of what a director does, you dumb *beep*

3. Yeah, definatly looks like the performances ruined all the characters of these actors. You know, since they're being reviewed as GREAT performances. I haven't heard one negative comment about anyone's performance in this movie from all the reviews I read so I guess you just have a unique outlook on it.

4. Isn't that the same point as 3? How could an actress do a character justice if you already said the script was crap?

4. The ending isn't supposed to lead anywhere. It's an ENDING. Jesus Christ, you're an idiot.

reply

LOL! Owned! Get 'em, Greg!

reply

Yeah, I must say I agree with gregbizkit2001. I saw the premier at Tribecca and it was really a great movie. I think the casting was phenominal, Jesse Eisenberg fit the role of Charlie completely, and Jason Ritter really portrayed Mick well.

reply

Great to hear that. So far I haven't heard one negative comment from the Tribeca screenings.

reply

Oh yeah, you wrote this 'review' way before the film came out. Eat *beep* dude.

reply

You're kidding. Only one of these actors had this as a first time film. Chris Marquette= Alpha Dog, Just Friends etc... This film is going to be picked up by a large company most likely and be widely distributed. Get over it. Fred Durst did an amazing job. You would never guess this was his first time film.

reply

I worked with the Lone Star International Film Festival...and had NO idea what movie I was screening first...let's say BLOWN AWAY doesn't even cover it. Jason was captivatingly shocking and erotically charming ...as well as great performances alll around!! If you ppl hate Fred Durst FINE whatever, I don't but Jesus he did a phenomenal job for a first time director, would never have even GUESSED it was his first had I not know, and been in the theater with him and Jason. Anyone who isn't captivated, shocked, jolted, moved, and erotically stimulated in a violent manner from this film is Brain Dead or DIDN'T see IT!! 10 STARS ALLLLL THE WAY! Bet it'll win the award @ this Festival as well! I'll email Jason the page....maybe HE has a few comments for the haters!!
RIGHT ON FENDERBASS2122!

reply

I'm really looking forward to the movie, but I'm not sure I want to be "erotically stimulated in a violent manner". What does that even mean? Seriously, can you explain that a little bit? None of the main three guys dies or anything, do they?

I think he's just pushing sarcastically to add a little wink.

reply

What people don't seem to understand is most of these people who break into Hollywood really ARE talented.

My respect for Fred Durst went through the roof when he was one of the few wash ups who actually tried to continue a creative career instead of cameo performances in Step Up and lame reality TV shows when he was the first I imagined would do so.

A fool did not direct this movie. That's all I have to say. If he was smart enough to get our money back in the Bizkit days...he's smart enough now to do the same thing a different way. the fact this film is a coming of age art piece and not fast and the Furious 4 shows me he's serious about his new craft. All the best to him.

sin-surely,

Right on, RF. I'm no fan of the guy, but this movie looks great. I mean, why can't people give him a chance? He might surprise us all. And WTF is wrong with reinventing yourself once in a while? I applaud him for following his passion.
