Best opening credits scene in movie history

Drive, unexpectedly, is my favourite movie. It is the only movie that I think is completely perfect.

But this opening sequence is just something else. The backdrop of LA lit up at night with the bright pink font and Kavinsky's Nightcall playing, and Ryan driving the streets, all wrapped up by a great cinematographers eye, is just perfection.

I also think that not only should it have been nominated for the Oscar of Best Acheivement in Editing, but also cinematography. Each scene is just stunning and carefully constructed, with the placing of the actors, mixture of light and dark.... And although the violence of the film and the cars are a commonly masculine theme, I love that there is a softness, an almost femininity to the overall film.

I just love this movie so much and just love talking about it. so if this movie had a big impact on anyone else, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Shut up you overrating peasant.

It is a good movie. I didn't like the 80's vibe that glazed over almost the entire film, particularly the soundtrack, some people loved it. Not me, but I still gave it a pretty high rating. It's a good story and character study.

However, I believe the best opening scene ever goes to "Lord of War". Check it out on YouTube, it doesn't spoil the plot, great movie too if you can put politics out of your head.

Unfortunately, the opening scene was the only good part of this movie... IMO.
Otherwise, I found it an incredible waste of time, mainly because...
The characters kept making "really bad decisions," and what plot twists there were, weren't very interesting.

Yeah, but man, more people should see that "Lord of War" opening scene.. It's the best opening credit scene of all time, and the movie itself probably doesn't even rank on my top 50 so it's not like a favorite of mine or anything, not a bad show though, heavy on the politics, even as I lean left, I like my 2nd amendment, that movie was full tilt blue splatter laced with a plot.

While the opening scene in Drive(2011) is good, it is a direct homage to a lesser known movie called The Driver(1978) with Ryan O'Neal. Homage is actually a compliment because the camera angles, movements, and styles are almost a direct copy.

Saw it yesterday. I was thinking this is another car chase/action movie, but how wrong I was. It will be a modern classic.

The intro scene is one of the best I have ever seen in years.

a man is saying that the opening scene annoyed him, it's basicly a frame for frame rip off to Walter Hill's The Driver, There's so many Similarities in the script too but it's still a good movie because it took a different turn than The Driver.
a man is just saying that some people are way overrating this film calling it the greatest movie of all time and stuff like that.

Watchmen's opening credits are the best ever.

''They are shaping me into something gaudy. Something lethal.''

Okay a few people have said Watchmen's opening credits aren't great, so looks like I'm going to have to rewatch it!

I have to agree with an earlier post...Mann's "Thief" starring James Caan has a very similar feel to "Drive". Different films completely, but just the mood and look were very alike...you'd have to see it to know what I mean. I really enjoyed both of them.

And yes, Watchmen had an awesome opening! Really good film.
