Garage/Mechanic scenes

I had lots of questions in watching this movie; and I admit to missing some of the important plot details. The scenes that puzzled me the most were when the Illusionist took the job at the garage. From what I could gather, he ended up 'washing' the car as the owner requested (in the rain). What I couldn't figure out was why the garage-owner fired him or even knew what had transpired.

While I understand the desire for limited dialogue, if you're going to have some as they did, a little bit more to elucidate the more confusing bits might have helped.

the boss found him sleep when he came, he possibly lost a lot of midnight customers.

Yeah, I remember the sleeping; but a lot more occurred during that sequence.

I think the whole point was that the boss mechanic found him out for a fraud. The car was improperly parked out of the garage. The Illusionist accidentally popped the trunk and all the luggage spilled out. He betrayed a look of uncertainty when the boss first arrived. So even if he had managed to get the car clean, it must have been obvious that he didn't truly know what he was doing, meaning he had lied about his qualifications as a mechanic. This made his boss furious and so he canned him. I didn't find it too confusing.

The white car in this scene has the licence plate B16 455 - BIG ASS.
