Anybody who thinks Ann was disloyal to Buddy?

I felt sorry for Buddy in the film. He loved Ann, but she never felt the same. He was a drunk, but I felt she could have helped him and he would have changed. At first, she seemed loyal to him. Then, she rode off into the sunset with Harris. Not literally, but she should have supported him more.

Anyone agree? xx

I didn't really feel all that sorry for Buddy.. It's what Ann meant after he jumped off the cliff: why does he have to include her in everything he does? Just because he wants her to, doesn't make it her job to 'save him'.

After a point, there is no supporting of a drunk--only enabling.

Buddy loved Ann as a person and as his intended parachute for those times in which he messed up. He had an agenda lined up for her and read every little thing that she did with him as having "portent" for his future wishes. His was a tragic life and he continued to excuse his behavior, which his parents condemned.

Ann did her best, but he was not her responsibility no matter how hard he was trying to manipulate her into accepting it.

On the other hand, Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy met in in filming Evening, dated, became engage, married, and have a child, so that was a bonus and blessing for the actors.

A Checkered Life speaks of myriad diverse adventures being the rewards of endless curiosity.

I just found out Ann (claire Danes) actually met her husband who plays Buddy on the set of this movie. And natasha richardson is the daughter of vanessa Redgrave. Just wow.
