Really a great movie...

...especially if you're originally from Southern Ohio (like I am).

This is one of those movies where I overlook any "flaws," "inaccuracies," "imperfections," etc., and just enjoy this movie for what it is. I grew up not far at all from Huntington, WV (where Marshall University is located) and spent a lot of time there in my younger years.

I'm so glad McG decided to film this movie (i.e., some of it) in the Huntington area. I think it gives the movie a real sense of legitimacy, which people from the area would be quick to recognize otherwise. I definitely recognized several of the filming locations...it was pretty cool to see on the big screen!

I was about 18 months old when the plane crash happened. To be honest, there was a lot of information in the movie that I wasn't aware of before the movie came out (and I grew up pretty close to Marshall). My late parents actually watched this movie with me...it was interesting to hear their recollections about the crash (They both talked about what a nasty night weather-wise it was that night).

I still marvel at the football talent Marshall had in the 90s...Randy Moss, Chad Pennington, Ahmad Bradshaw, Byron Leftwich, et.al. I was at the 2004 OSU-Marshall game in Columbus...what a game that was (Mike Nugent, OSU's kicker, kicked a 55-yard FG as time expired to win the game for OSU...and that was not one of the stronger Marshall teams). But I'm glad this movie was made...with another college football season ready to start again soon, I'd like to re-watch this movie before the season starts.
