Just so we are clear...

if you like this movie, if you have incredibly transcindental things to say about every moment of this movie, if you believe this movie is a masterpiece than you are amoung the greatest fools to roam out great interweb. This movie is a jumbled mess, meaningless and mind hurting. I saw it, I saw the Great Anthony Hopkins talk about it and answer questions about his film. And I can tell you he nor anyone involved meant for you to GET it. Its just pure insanity to hurt the brain, in may infact be a practical joke on all of us. Its not really clear what this movie is but fanatasic it is most certaintly NOT. If you think you can tell me why Slipstream is good or worthy of watching please do but I take any non-response as a silent omission.

Forgive spelling and grammar mistake I am too lazy to check. Thank you and be well

I think most of the references, some of the scenes and some of the different visuals are kinda "tributes" to people he has either worked with or admired. Then there's some kind of parallel universe thing trying to combine into one (maybe).

But i didn't really think about analyzing it much, i think his deeper meaning with the movie is to invent a legal replacement for LSD. Seriously, i think they made that movie with themselves as the prime audience. Prank? Maybe, but in that case he could at least let us laugh as well.

Could be fun making a list of movies that it rips off (for whatever purpose, if any), because it's gonna be huge!

It's a movie. He's poking fun at the film industry and pondering the nature of intersecting realities. There is no greater point and purpose except simple exploration, no grand life-shattering revelation to be had. It's just exploring, and it's neat.

I love it the same way I love an abstract piece of art. It's abstract and interesting, that's all.

Wveth!

I liked the "Schroedinger's Cat" trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson, although I cannot say I really "got" it, but it was entertaining as hell.

This on the other hand was physical pain!

I'm sure 90% of the people giving arrogant answers in this thread like "oh you didn't get it...boohoo, see a doctor..." etc. have no idea what the movie is about as well and just think that by pretending they liked it they would seem like really cool, intelligent film experts. LOL

Christian Slater was great by the way.

Wveth, I couldn't agree more. The people who really, clearly, passionately hate this film probably don't like abstract art. I like the film because, even if it wasn't meant to have a plot in the true sense of the word, it is well made, and it has powerful ideas behind it, and, it gets you to think - not in the sense that you'll come to any kind of conclusion, but just to think in a broad sense about the film, much like an abstract piece of 2 dimensional art. That's something most viewers can't appreciate these days.
