Inspired by The Aviator

The movie Guru, as I see, has lots of resemblance with 5 Academy Awards winner The Aviator starting from Mallika's club song to the impeachment scene.

Backdrop for Aviator was 1930s, similarly for Guru it was 1950s.

Abhishek :: Leonardo - Both innovative thinkers, perfectionists and sensitive.
They do not like the word "NO" as an answer. Both had a certain signature mannerisms. Leonardo turns mentally unstable when he faces failure whereas, Abhishek become partially paralyzed for turning him down by the public.

Ashwarya :: Cate Blanchett - Both passionate, strong, supportive women.

Impeachment scene at the end is almost identical in both the movies.

I enjoyed both the movies equally though.

My dear Fellas!!

I aint sure about Aviator or Scarface or any other movie.. but what i know is that its pretty much a rip off of the 1978 movie of Sylvester Stallone name F.I.S.T.
Infact, even the scenes (may of em, including the climax court scene) are almost ditto as of the original one.
The story line is the same aswell!

and yeah i do agree that the movie guru was supposed to be based on the life of Dhirubhai Ambani but maybe Mani Ratnam took the concept from there and then modified it according to his will and plan.

Peace!

yes it is inspired be it the courtroom scene which is a near total copy of the senate committee hearing in the Aviator or the overall script, heavily inspired or copied from aviator.

100% agree.

Some similarities definitely exist. story is D.Ambani's. Screenplay is Aviator, not all though. Court scene is all I said and Google led me to this thread lol!

Not to mention the OCD scene.
