Does anyone else hate those funny parts?!

I know many anime shows have those moments but it totally ruined the mood for me. I know Hirano had sarcastic thought about the whole story and made the same funny breaks trough whole manga series but this version of the show looked much darker than the previous one and I think translations of those funny interludes from manga into the show ruined it completely. I would give it 10 since it's epic. Only true vampire movie that was ever made. (I'm already imagining Tarantino making live action movie from this material.) But I gave it 9. Still high but every time I really got hyped up by Alucard's fight and his hunting monologs and all the dark and crazy mood around it, there it goes a sarcastic moment that ruins it all.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they "ruined it completely," but sometimes I did find them very distracting and other times they did ruin the mood of a dark or serious scene. They definitely could have been handled better to fit more smoothly with the rest of the show.

I like the humor a lot, without it I think the show would be just a little too grim

Sometimes it was a bit annoying... I didn't care much for The Willispace gag, Willis.
But I always crack up in episode three when Bernadotte's complaining about how Alucard gets a penthouse suite and he gets a crappy hotel. Especially the way his tongue sticks out like a twirly snake's. LOL.
I always thought of Hirano's humour as a hit or miss kinda thing...

It was funny at first, I'll admit, but it dragged on too long, Willis.
It kept introducing all these other guys and it just wasn't funny anymore.

but introducing all those other guys was epic as well, I mean how many animes do you know have a cameo by Christopher *beep* Walken!?

Christopher Walken wasn't ACTUALLY on the show, though.

I totally agree. Every time that stupid humor with the Police Girl (I almost can't stand it) kinda ruined it.

I wouldn't say I hated them, aye they were a tad distracting but they were so few and far between that you forget about them as soon as you've watched them. You're so absorbed by the story that these moments are nothing. Just a teeny tiny bit of light humor.

Completely ruined the tone and pacing. One of many reasons this only gets a 4 or 5, tops.

I have seen original Hellsing series. Then went to watch Ultimate and once I noticed those over the top funny scenes I was not able to handle it :( .

Is Ultimate different than original? I was hopping it was a sequel xD. Its a remake?

reply

It's a remake and sort of a sequel at the same time... The series had an incomplete comic series to cover... Since it wasn't finished when the show was made, the show made up their own conclusion. The first three episodes of ultimate are like a remake of the show but after that it's completely different as ultimate had the completed comic to follow now.

I liked the series but loved the ultimate series aside from the cheap comedy bits that weren't even funny. I thought it was ironic that the funniest scene in the entire series was a normal scene. That part where they're going up to meet the major and that one dude comes out to greet them and welcome them and Integra just pulls out a gun in the middle of his welcome and blows his head off That part had me rolling... And that's how the other comedy bits should have been... Just happen naturally. Not with that cheaply animated forced comedy crap. The ultimate was too good for those parts to ruin the whole thing but I do wish they would have dropped them.

Yeah, they were out of place.
