Bad Documentary

It got to the part (or should I say parts) where they start saying Halloween was a success because of who was president at the time and Aids is the real enemy and the faceless killer that's stalking us...

And I'm Like ,WTF Am I Watching????!!!!!!!!!!!

They are getting paid to spit out this dribble?

I knew I wasn't really afraid of Michael Myers..It was Jimmy Carter being president that really installed my fear!

Honestly!

Oh my God, are you actually serious? I'm getting hesitant to watch this now if they're going to say sh*t like that. I sure as hell hope that it wasn't Malek Akkad or John Carpenter who said that.

I hate to say it, but I think it was actually John Carpenter.

I could be wrong though.

I was like what are you talking about, stick to the subject!! I mean aids? Horror movies? Talk about reading too much into entertainment.

I'm surprised nobody else was bothered by this.

I think you missed the point of Carpenter's quote. Of course, when you mis-quote him like that, I guess it does make him sound like an ass. He was simply saying that Halloween was the success it was because audiences craved escapism during the unstable Carter era and it provided a "safe scare."

I thought the point about how the have sex and die cliché in 80's slasher films being emblematic of the AIDS epidemic which at the time was causing lots of fear and dread with people all over the country was spot-on.
