Could this movie be any worse (READ IT ALL)

this movie was ridiculous. I'm obviously not the only person who thinks this because i went to see a 9:15 showing with my friends just because there were no good movies playing that i havent seen and i felt like laughing at bad filmmaking. I went to the theater and guess what....no ones there. Just us. We spent most of the movie yelling at the screen and talking about the major plot holes in the movie, or just laughing at how bad the plot and script were. Now to be honest i must say that it was so bad it was good, so if you like that kind of thing, which i do, then enjoy. The major plot-holes are as follows:

1. It is unbelieveably unrealistic that the workers at the airport would not have the contacts the parents of unaccompanied minors, there is no way they would just lock them up for christmas eve.
2. Grace (the supposedly hot girl) is seen playing and interacting with a group of kids her age who she seems to know. This is explainable if she is maybe on a field trip and they are at the same school, or if they were on some kind of vacation together and are flying home, but she later explains that she lives near the airport and just goes to it for fun. Not only that but these people are never mentioned again, this aspect of the movie was never explained.
3. If the airport is willing to transport a bunch of kids to a hotel, and possibly pay for their rooms and ammenities, then why weren't they willing to call their parents and notify them of the storm.
4. It was never explained how Beef (the fat one) was able to trade his action figure for a Christmas tree.
5. Wilmer Valderamma's character, Zack quits when he sees the way that his boss is treating the kids.....so when the official warms up towards the end of the movie, and Zack is still working there does that mean that Zack keeps his job? If so this is never explained.
6. It was ridiculous that the kids stayed in the airport when they were finally not being pursued by the airport workers. When they finally had a chance to escape they just played around for hours.
7. When Beef (the fat kid) tries to leave the airport to get Spencer's sister (who he has never met) a Christmas tree, he has no trouble in getting out, despite the fact that he is fat, stupid, and uncoordinated.
8. This to me is the biggest plot hole in the movie:
Spencer (the nerdy one who likes the supposedly hot girl) is stated to live in Pennsylvania, the location of the airport is not stated in the movie, but it is made clear that the drive from Pennsylvania to the airport is a lengthy one, taking at least a full day. So at the end of the movie when Grace comes to his house for Christmas the drive would be long enough that they would be there at a very late hour, making the trip pointless. It is stated that Grace lives within 20 minutes of the airport, so she would have to go all the way back the following day...this just makes no sense at all.

Whew, also this movie does not provide a good message to kids, even though it may claim to. This is not inspirational to kids who have divorced parents. It just teaches them that if they try to do anything ever adults will lock them in rooms, and that once they're locked in those rooms escaping will be easy because everyone knows 11-year old kids can hurt adults by punching them, and that running adults are notorious for falling down randomly or tripping over a single piece of luggage and falling.
Oh yeah, and fat kids are too fat and stupid to hang out with you. They just have to go away for virtually the whole plot.

can you be any more a idiot? 1. BIG STORM = No phone
2. it only takes about 5 mins to make friends
3. its on tv alll over it BIGEST STORM OF THE CENTURY!!!
4. isnt it clear the guy who ran the tree thing was a fruit cake???
5. the boss dude gets all happy and everything and lets zach KEEP his job and zach chose to stay after he went nice
6. it wasnt theyre plan to escape it was theyre plan to find stuff to give to katie
7. its cause they had all the gaurds chasing the kids
8. spencer says CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS meaning like 2 weeks

reply

Phones are used often during the film, sometimes from the airport.

If they BARELY knew each other then why would they laugh at the kid who tried to talk to them (and dont say his sisters lame insults)

Once again, it was never stated that Zack keeps his job

And giving the doll to Katie means leaving the airport....she's at the hotel

THE GUARDS ARE EVERYWHERE, that is made very clear, they dont even know that all the kids haven't split up

It's already Christmas when Spencer says this, meaning if you are right (which you aren't) less than a week
but here's the quote
Spencer: Would...would you maybe like to spend Christmas at my house?

It's bad enough that this movie exists and it just makes it ten times worse than you're actually defending it. I'm not even going to address your arguments because it's useless.

@Jakeballa, can you be anymore a *beep* dick?

You make great points and all but let’s just remember this is a kid film. I went to go see it with my friends since we’d seen everything else and we saw it in a $2 dinky theater but it was filled with kids and they loved it. Because they are kids they can’t think of all the questions you raised…..I found myself thinking the same things but I just enjoyed it for what it was worth….

Yeah. I mean not many kids are going to sit there and analyze the movie. I'm 16 and I don't do it. Not with kids movies anyway. I saw it today and I thought it was rather entertaining actually. I mean my friend and I just went because we had four hours to kill and we figured we'd watch a movie. The theatre was filled with kids and they seemed to love it. I was amused by it and it's just one of those films that's not a complete waste if you're looking for something enjoyable. If you want to analyze a movie then go see something aimed at an adult audience.

There were a few other plot holes and unrealistic things. For example, Grace basically said that her parents don't love her and that they went to Paris to get away from her at Christmas. For the sake of Pete, what kind of parents would leave their daughter at Christmas because they just hated her? How realistic is that?

I remember a few other unrealistic parts and plot holes, but it is a kids movie.

In my opinion, the plot holes are no big deal. If you enjoy the movie then that is what matters, eh?

well, the maid was there if you remember, when Grace confessed she said, "I could stay home all alone with the maid, but she wanted christmas off anyways"

I don't know about you, but causing mayhem in an airport sounds like fun. I think that's all the film is about. Otherwise, it's pretty whatever, really. Some parts were fun and hilarious (musical chairs). Others were excruciating.

"Those moobs are quite sizable."
"Indeed."

I understand what you're saying, but if all of those plot holes had been filled in, the movie would of been boring, instead of funny and entertaining. Things like a little girl being able to take down a fully grown man with one punch, and kids outsmarting adults, who trip over stuff, makes the movie funny. You can't tell me you didn't enjoy the part of Home Alone where the burglars were stumbling through the Booby traps that Kevin had set up. It was so funny when Donna and Charlie ran down the hall, pounding on the doors, and caused Mr. Porter to get punched by that big guy.

Also, in real life, kids have school, which is boring, chores, which are boring, and other responsibilities. Movies like this allow them to relax and play a little. If they accurately showed real life, they'd be boring, and there'd be no point in going to see them.

In short, there are plot holes, but the main point of the movie is to be entertaining, so it doesn't really matter.

I agree.

I actually thought this was okay for a 'movie'. We all know that these 'kid movies' are often unrealistic, that's what makes them funny and alive. Yes I get all of your points saying that this sucked. It's not realistic - so what?

Home Alone and this are sort of related. How come everyone liked Home Alone?!? Let's see...unrealistic? Yes. Stupid? Evermore so. What's the different. People do stupid things to make it look funny. That's just how everyone is.

Let me ask you...should there be a comedy based on a guy who goes up and down flights of stairs to get coffee? No. Truth is, that's how people like it. And the reason this rating is so low is because none of the 'kids' got to vote because they're too young. Oh well :( Too bad...

THIS MOVIE WAS FINE...ACTUALLY LIKED IT MORE THAN A LOT OF MOVIES I'VE SEEN THAT WERE SO VERY POINTLESS.

Anyway...the characters were just too cute. <3

Some people enjoy poorly shot films because they're so bad. I read this thread for the same general reasion. And aren't you a little too young to be cursing enzy? You need to be above the influence of your delinquent peers.

Was I the only person who thought that the name of this film sounded like something from The Simpsons? It sounds like a joke, like Ethnic Mismatch Comedy #245. I'm only wondering because when I first heard the title, I thought the title was a joke and the movie might be clever. Based on reviews, the latter appears not to be true so I wondered about the former.

After all the plot holes you pointed out you make it sound boring but did you ever try to look at it in a different point of view it was after all a really cute kid movie .I also kindof enjoyed being a 13 year old. There is no problem with teens liking this kind of movie and thanks for being a complete jackass

How realistic is Home Alone?

How could one kid avoid being killed by most likely armed intruders using ice and home made flamethrowers? How can a 8 year old rig up a flame thrower...

Speaking of Home Alone, how cool is the older brother? He's my favorite movie character of all time. Buzzzzzzz

So to answer your question, who cares?

I'm sorry but your points are all minor. If you do this thing called "suspend disbelief" you will find that films are so much more enjoyable. This isn't a movie where there is a solid plot. Its a kids story. I enjoyed this film cause I didn't care about plot holes, i liked this cause it was funny and a nice escape from the Christmas season. So lighten up and get over your self. I'm sorry but if you had the time to sit down and write all that *beep* about why the movie sucked you have no life.
