Flight 93 better than United 93

I have just watched "united 93" after having seen "flight 93" a few months ago, and i have to say that flight 93 is MUCH better, it had me almost in tears the whole way through and was very emotional, it also had great computer generated imagery from outside of the plane and it soared up and down showing you what was actually happening to the plane. Also as previously said it had the other side of the families, showing them in their homes coming to terms with what was happening to their loved ones....what was said in the conversations and the public's reaction to what they were seeing on the TV as the crashes happened, and how the passengers came up with a plan to storm the hijackers everything....

it also has very emotional scenes at the end of the film after the plane has crashed. very sad.

However United 93 had none of this.. wasnt at all emotional or dramatic, just basically showed the US military and senior air traffic controllers messing things up, didnt focus in on the passengers or what happened between them or what they said in their phone conversations and families on the other end of the phone. Or the public's reaction to seeing the horrifing scenes on the Tv and news.

My advice is almost certainly is that flight 93 was much better than United 93.

I am quite shocked to hear your opinion, but it says much about most of the consumers today.

FLIGHT is a manipulative product that plays the whole set of emotional standards like a piano.
This would be okay for the typical TV-soap-audience - but is is inexcusable in face of the background of the story.

UNITED is a raw and existential glimpse into the face of reality.
It makes me sad that most people are so disneyfied that they don't feel it deep inside their hearts.

If you cannot stand the impact of UNITED - no problem.

But please stop comparing the two films then.
It is a slap in the face for the real victims of that day.

Both movies are good, but i prefer Flight 93 myself since the emotional break we all had that day was felt much stronger because we have the passengers fears of not knowing what was going on and the fear of their familys for losing them. I cried from the moment the first call was made after the highjack until the end of the movie, and i did not on united 93. I need to cry in movies like this, if i do not then it is not that touching as it should be.

But that's my opinion

United 93 had more of a tense and nail biting story. It was raw emotion and seemed tons more realistic. While it did, more than likely, have a bigger budget then flight 93, it was still better in my opinion. I gave flight 93 a 6 and most people seem to think that as well while on the other hand I gave United 93 a 10 and it has a 7.9 right now.

"Flight 93", in my opinion, was nothing more than a soap opera. While the production values for this made-for-TV movie were good, the acting wasn't all that great and the events portrayed were embellished for story telling. There are a lot of factual inaccuracies. For one...the TV reports shown in the scenes showcasing the families never happened. No one in the media knew that United 93 was hijacked while it was still in the air. The hijackers looked more hispanic than they did Arabic. There is only one reference to Allah in the entire movie. Had this movie been a piece of fiction we would have never known why the planes were being hijacked and rammed into buildings. The driving force behind "Flight 93" is the conversations between the passengers and their loved ones on the ground. It works for a while but after about a half hour of it you start wishing they would just charge the cockpit and be done with it. When they finally do charge the cockpit it is both melodramatic and anti-climatic.

"United 93", on the other hand, is the definitive 9/11 film. It captures the horror and confusion of that day. The military as well as the civilian government had no clue what was going on and seemed powerless to do anything. The movie shows this and then contrasts it with what is going on onboard United 93. These passengers know that they are a part of a suicide mission and decide to do something about it. The acting is very natural and makes it feel like we are actually there on the plane with the real-life passengers of that day. The final scene in which the passengers try to re-claim the plane from the hijackers is one of the most dramatic and powerful five and a half minutes in cinema history.

You people need to separate good movie making from personal emotions. It's obvious a lot of you feel strongly about 911 (rightfully so) so it was easy for the movie makers to manipulate your feelings and get the reactions they wanted out of you.

When it comes to the actual quality of the movie it simply isn't that good.

EXACTLY! A major reason United 93 was the much more believable and gripping film was because, like the real-life flight, it had no distracting artificial background music.

I completely agree! I can't believe that a television movie, made on a quarter of the budget of Universal's United 93, could be so much better.

The casting seemed to be much better, I immediately warmed to the flight attendants and principle passengers.

There are only theories as to what actually took place on the plane. The phone calls made by the passengers only revealed some of the story.

An example of the different interpretations is that in United 93, the stewardess the hijackers attack to move toward the cockpit is brutally killed. In Flight 93, she is not, and is released toward the back of the plane.

The fact that Flight 93 focuses on the stories 'on the ground' with friends and families is the unique selling point for this film. It took me on an emotional roller-coaster no other film has done for quite some time.

I have since bought Flight 93 on DVD.

Fantastic film, truly enjoyed.

I haven't seen "United 93" but watched this film last night on A&E, and I was pleasantly surprised at how restrained it was; it so easily could have devolved into histrionics, but I found it very believable. The terrible stress that people were under came across with a lot of realism. I also enjoyed seeing lots of actors from the Vancouver contingent, many of whom I'd enjoyed in "Da Vinci's Inquest," "Intelligence" and other great Canadian TV shows. Overall, very well done.

I like Flight 93 a lot better then United 93. However, I can not hate United 93, because anything with 9/11 is very touching.

People are entitled to their opinions, but never should anyone's opinion insult someone else's. If some feel that Flight 93 was better than United 93 and vice versa, that's great. Feel free to state it and why if you please. But don't insult someone in the process. We can all learn to agree to disagree about the events of that day or anything else for that matter.

In my opinion, I did like Flight 93 better than United 93, but I still liked United 93. Both were great films. Each had different focuses and I believe that both films complimented each other actually. Up until yesterday I had not been able to bring myself to watch any of the movies based on 9/11 because I just could not handle it. Then yesterday I stumbled upon a documentary A&E was playing and right after that, Flight 93 came on. I wasn't going to watch it, but for some reason I felt I needed to watch it. it was hard and a couple of different times I almost changed the channel, but I didn't. And by the time the ending came, I was crying so hard I was shaking. I couldn't even begin to imagine the fear, panic, and pain of saying goodbye the passengers and crew went through. And I also could not imagine the pain their family members felt as they knew they were saying goodbye to their loved ones they knew they would not see again. The ending where it showed the crash site and such, everything was so solemn. And for some reason I started crying harder. These people knew they were gonna die and took action anyways and crashed the plane in a field so that know one else would die as it has been stated many times a likely target was The Capitol and or The White House. I will always be grateful to the people3 on that plane for what they did. As hard as it was, I was glad I sat through the film finally.
