Here's the reason why Dan didn't remember Ruthie 'pig faced' Draper

Maybe because she's 21 years younger than him.

Anyone else think that's the reason why he didn't remember him?? Why would Dan's parents even set him up with someone that much younger than him anyways??

That's what I was thinking. Maybe she was the 5 year old kid he babysat 20 years ago.

The whole idea is that she's someone who had lots of plastic surgery. She's Dan's age. She just went from "pigface" to someone attractive and younger looking.

reply

yeah i think that was the point, she no longer looked like a pig as she'd had a lot of surgery. Although it wasnt specified.

Actually I got the impression that she was more a contemporary of Dan's younger brothers - more Mitch's age than Dan's - which is why Dan struggled to remember her.

If Ruhie is a plastic surgeon, then she's older than Emily Blunt's actual age of early 20s. Ruthie is probably in her early 30s. Even so, if Dan is in his 40s, he might not remember a younger classmate of his brothers'. Ruthie acts like as a kid had a major crush on Dan, while he didn't know she was alive.

Well, when you posted this in 2013, she was 30. But certainly that's younger than Dan.

reply

Regardless, an experienced plastic surgeon would hardly be 24, which was Blunt's age in 2007.

Yes, my mistake.

And in a galaxy far, far away...it's a movie, kid.

The actors’ ages in this film seemed almost picked at random. Juliette Binoche and Steve Carell are Baby Boomers, Dane Cook is Generation X, and Emily Blunt and Allison Pill are Millennials. In fact, Blunt is only two years older than Pill, who is playing Dan’s 17-year-old daughter.
