I didn't like her character in the first one. And now she has a bigger part which, in my opinion, was a terrible choice because she is annoying. Actually, there were two moments in the movie when I thought she had died that got me very excited.
I hated that woman; I may be well past the age for this film but even as a kid I hated the spunky grandma stereotype. It's cliche, it's lazy and (no pun intended) it gets old fast. Dreamworks aren't the best animators out there but I thought they'd be above this shtick.
Seriously though, was anybody else disturbed by her enthusiasm and persistence to roast a lion alive then consume its flesh? Her character has always been needlessly violent, but this was insane.
Yes, I found her annoying. Sometimes, it's funny to see a character of a former movie appear in the sequel (like Clifton James as Sheriff Pepper in James Bond), but here, her role was too big and she was very cruel and unfunny. (It reminded me a bit of the old lady with the three dogs in "A Fish called Wanda", when you feel sorry for the dogs, but sort of "happy", when the old lady dies), And when she started saying this "We are New Yorkers .." speech, she said the same thing as Gloria said to the others when they first arrived in Madagascar. She was just not a funny character with no appeal to anyone.
I also find King Julien very annoying, already in the first part. Alec Baldwin as Makunga was great, I love him in villain roles. I usually find David Schwimmer one of the most annoying persons on earth, but he is perfect as Melman.
As such I found the movie a bit unbalanced, too many subplots and much more violent than the first one.
hahahahahahaha I am so glad i am not the only one! I never hated an animated character so much, I mean, there have been movies where the villains are bad, or boring, or unlikeable, but, omg this lady was the worst, I couldn't stand her!!! I really wanted her to die when the penguins hit her, her accent also annoyed me but it was just her whole character I love this movie, it was hilarious, clever, and awesome, the penguins were better than anything, the monkeys were really funny too, i just loved Everything about the animals, one of the best movies i've seen Except for the humans, The humans are the downside, whenever im watching the movie and i get to the tourists lost part, i just fast forward or skip those scenes, I dont even want to look at her face!
