Mr. Amazing? Anyone?

Hi there, I saw this movie at Sundance and I loved it. However, there was a guy they interviewed in the movie and I can't remember his name. He actually had a restraining order against him by Walter Day because he apparently claimed he had a high score that he couldn't verify. When he got aggressive trying to get Twin Galaxies to acknowlege his score he ran into trouble. I know Billy Mitchell really didn't like him.

He now goes by some superhero name like "Mister Amazing" (I'm not sure that's actually it, though), and has put out comic books that chronicle his adventures (in an apparently slightly pornographic manner, too).

Does anyone know who he is and what his name is? He was definitely in the famous Life Magazine picture, I know that.

Any ideas? Thanks!

His Name is Roy "Mr. Awesome" Schildt. He was a regular on the "all games ineractive" radio show. That guy is totally cool. Check out their show and do search of the archives, it's well worth it to hear some classic Mr. Awesome clips - www.allgames.com

"The guy is a complete nutcase and an absolute lowlife."

True of about half the people in this.

Mr. Awesome. A highlight of the film. Also, apparently there is no restraining order because he and Walter Day were on a panel together at California Extreme tonight (8/11) where they showed the film.

Billy Mitchell has the restraining order against Mr. Awesome.

Billy Mitchell also has a restraining order against modern fashion, good ethics, and capable hairstylists.

Yeah, stil rocking the dress shirt, tie and black jeans with no belt. However, it can't compare to one shot of "Mr Awesome" playing missile command with a dress shirt, some loud shorts and knee high sport socks. I don't think Ben Stiller could even come up with an outfit like that.

Check out The King of Kong documentary and you'll see what a weird guy this Roy is. I haven't seen this Chasing Ghosts, but am dying to since I'm such a huge fan of King of Kong.

My favorite line from the movie was Roy sitting in his silly “Mr. Awesome” costume and saying “Arnold Schwarzenegger made his fortune from selling drugs and working as a gigolo.” Then, based on the film crew’s reaction: “Yes, I’m being serious.” That cracked me up.

Q:How do you make Billy Mitchell look like a reasonable guy?

A: Just let Roy Shildt talk for a while.

I think that's honestly the most surprising difference between Chasing Ghosts and The King of Kong. Shildt has more time to keep his piehole open on camera, and he comes off as a supreme douche . . . whereas Billy Mitchell actually slips in a few compliments about other players and is more low-key in this film (dare I say conversational). Chasing Ghosts really added some likability to Mitchell's goofiness.

You better call Kenny Loggins. 'Cause you're in the danger zone.

Gotta give Roy props just for coining the nickname Silly Bitchell.
