In the "Hooliganism" episode we see a young Sam at the Manchester derby with his dad, who asks Sam if he saw the goal. Both of them are Manchester United fans. The game in question takes place at Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United in 1974 game at Old Trafford. Manchester City won 1-0, condemning United to relegation to the second division, No way would Sam and his dad ( both United fans ) be excited about seeing their team relegated.

The game was the Manchester United v Manchester City match played on 21st April 1973, the only derby played at Old Trafford in that year. It was a 0-0 draw. Sam was probably experiencing a false memory.
